Our 4-H'rs are on a roll!

Thank you to all who came out and supported us at the plant sale. We took the funds earned from that and put it towards our Junior MG garden, where our kiddos planted their in ground pumpkins, and all their veggies in their new, hand made (by them!) irrigated raised beds. With some help from our amazing 4-H leaders, parents, and Master Gardeners, our kiddos project gardens are off to a great start!

Our Junior Master Gardener 4-H club has been busy getting their hands dirty for a great cause! These hardworking kiddos have officially started a "bumper crop" of tomatoes, and they’re ready to find their forever homes in your garden.
This isn’t just any plant sale—it’s a fundraiser started and led by our amazing club members. They’ve nurtured these seedlings from the very beginning and are so excited to share their "growing pains" and successes with you!

Location: Douglas County Fairgrounds
Date: Saturday, May 2nd
Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Come see us in the morning!)

The kids will be right there at the booth, ready to talk shop. Whether you want to know about their favorite variety or how they kept these little guys thriving, they’ve got the dirt!

Every tomato you buy helps support our club’s future projects and learning adventures. Come say hi, support local youth agriculture, and grab some high-quality plants for your summer harvests.

Teamwork makes the garden dream work! 🌱🏗️

We had an incredible day out in the sun as the Douglas County Master Gardeners teamed up with the Douglas County Junior Master Gardeners to build some brand-new raised beds!

Watching the seasoned pros pass down their knowledge (and their power tool skills) to the next generation of growers was the highlight of our week. These beds are going to be home to some amazing crops very soon!

Special thanks to Master Gardener Mike Gunderson for heading up the build—we couldn’t have done it without your leadership and steady hand! We’re one step closer to planting season.

Join us this Saturday at our Public Open House at the Extension office from 1-4! Meet Douglas County Junior Master Gardeners 4-H'rs, learn how to propagate plants and leave with your own fairy garden!

Last night was a blast for our Junior Master Gardeners 4-H club! They elected a new board and then got creative, making their own Pumpkin Turkeys. Check out these fantastic creations and their fun names!

The Junior Master Gardeners Donated another 75 pounds of produce today!

The main crop was lots and lots of tomatoes! The yellow tomatoes pictured here are Yellow Pears and Native Sun tomatoes, a new dry farming variety to us!

Also, the most perfect red tomato just for fun.

The Junior Master Gardeners, with support from other clubs and their Douglas County Master Gardener Association leaders, have successfully installed a beautiful new topiary, drought-resistant garden bed, and wonderful wood bench at the fairgrounds. The kids played a key role in selecting plants that are resistant to drought and can thrive in the local environment. The new 4-H topiary is made up of Hebes, which are perfect for areas with minimal water and full sun. The drought-tolerant bed features a variety of plants, including Hebes, Penstemons, Salvias, grasses, sedums and ice plants. This selection of plants supports the OSU (Oregon) Master Gardener Program's initiative. We appreciate Fremont Middle School's generous donation of the beautiful wooden bench!
