Christian Care QC

Christian Care QC Rock Island resident Guy Rodgers founded the Rock Island Rescue Mission--later to become Christian Care--in 1916. that houses Christian Care today.

Our Mission.....
By providing safe shelter, support and resources, Christian Care empowers homeless men to make positive changes in every aspect of their lives. His passion was to provide resources for destitute men in the Quad Cities. Originally, the Rescue Mission was simply one room where men could get help with food, clothing, shelter and spiritual nourishment. In 2004, we moved to the new bu

ilding at 2209 3rd Ave. Rodgers continued his life's vocation until his retirement in 1954. Over the years, services grew to include shelter for men, a meal site, a donation center and a 24/7 Crisis Hotline. We take a holistic approach to healing at Christian Care, focusing on the bodies, minds, hearts and souls of our residents. There is no time limit on how long clients can stay; they are welcome to remain with us as long as they are working to improve their lives. Centering on accountability and responsibility, we help our clients to radically change their thinking and lifestyle--and be productive citizens of the community.

Success story-Austin Meyer: "During my stay at Christian Care, I have been guided in the right direction, given the tools to turn my life around, shown how to build structure in my life, and have been blessed to have met some good people while I've been here. I would like to say thank you to Frank, Marcie, Angela, and Xavery for helping me keep my life on track and helping me to accomplish my next step in life."

Our food bank and meal site go through a tremendous number of plastic grocery bags every week, and our supply is running very low. If you have any used, clean grocery bags that you would be willing to donate, we would be incredibly grateful!

Donations can be dropped off:

πŸ“ 824 W. 3rd St., Davenport
πŸšͺ Please come to the back door

πŸ—“οΈ Wednesdays & Fridays: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
πŸ—“οΈ Saturdays: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

These bags help us package food and distribute food to individuals and families in need throughout our community. Every donated bag helps us continue serving those who rely on our food bank and meal site.

Please share this post with your friends, family, and neighbors so we can spread the word. Thank you so much for your support and generosity. We sure appreciate it! ❀️

Humility Homes and Services, Inc., Thank You! For all that you do towards ending Homelessness.

Do you know the history of our organization? 🏠

It all started in 1987, when the Sisters of Humility and community members gathered in the Quad Cities with a shared concern: affordable housing. What began as conversation quickly became action.

From marching in Washington, D.C. in 1989 to demand an end to homelessness, to opening their first apartment for four families, the Sisters built a movement rooted in dignity and compassion.

Today, that mission lives on through Humility Homes and Services, helping more than 350 individuals every day with housing and supportive services.

πŸ’› Be part of the legacy. Support the future of fair and equitable housing.

πŸ“šJoin the Rooting Out Poverty Book ClubπŸ“–

on Wednesday, June 24, at 6:00 p.m. as we welcome Project NOW Head Start education professionals for a discussion on the challenges facing children living in poverty and the impact those challenges have on educational outcomes.

This conversation follows our reading of "Fire in the Ashes", which highlighted the profound inequalities experienced by children simply because they were born into poverty in one of the world's wealthiest nations. Together, we'll explore how educators, families, and communities can work to create opportunities for every child to thrive.

This presentation is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome to attend.

We hope to see you there!
