Once again, we are SO thankful for our friends at Modern Woodmen of America! 🧡

This amazing group put together 100 care packages for our guests at The Third Place, packed with essentials to help our folks get through this heat wave. ☀️🥵 From practical necessities to thoughtful touches, these packages are going to make a difference!

And they didn’t stop there, they also brought us bus passes to distribute to our guests! 🚌

This is what community looks like. When people step up and say, “How can we help?”lives are impacted. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support! 🙌

A huge THANK YOU to bigalspumpkinfarm Stand in Milan for donating some delicious, fresh cantaloupes and watermelon for our guests at The Third Place! ❤️

There’s just something about fresh, sweet fruit on a hot summer day that hits the spot! We’re so grateful for local businesses like Big Al’s that think of our guests and help us keep good food and fresh options available.

Sometimes all it takes is a little creativity… and at The Third Place, we’ve got PLENTY of that. 😂

Take Ricky, for example. We had a pair of donated women’s sandals that had definitely seen better days. Most people probably would’ve looked at them and thought, “Yep… trash.”

Ricky looked at them and thought, “Challenge accepted.”

He took the chains off the sandals, grabbed some safety pins, got creative, and turned them into some pretty awesome custom jewelry. And honestly? We’re impressed.

Proof that sometimes you don’t need much to make something cool, you just need a little imagination, some random supplies, and a Ricky. 😂❤️

This time, the spotlight is on Jessica! She is proudly showing off her chip celebrating 42 DAYS of sobriety! 🙌

And the work continues this week!

This Sunday, we had the opportunity to visit Beulah Presbyterian Church in Orion and share a little bit about the work happening at The Third Place. They have also been collecting much-needed items for our friends who visit our space, and we are SO grateful for their generosity and support!

Thank you for opening your doors, welcoming us, and helping us spread the word about what we do. Community support like this makes all the difference. 🫶

It was an unusual Saturday at The Third Place!

While we’re normally closed on weekends, today we opened our doors for a special service project, and we couldn’t have asked for a better group to spend the day with.

The judges from the Illinois Judicial Council stopped by and served our guests a delicious meal, prepared by Yolanda from Chefy Bear on Wheels. 🍽️💙

Our guests were incredibly grateful, and everyone left with a full belly and a big smile.

Today we received the most beautiful surprise. 💙

This is Stacy. 🥹

Every year, Stacy holds a T-shirt sale fundraiser in honor of her mom, and every year, she chooses to donate the proceeds. This year she sold 87 shirts and raised $870 for our mission. 💙

And that’s not all, also generously donated another $130, which she’ll use to purchase much-needed items from our wish list!

What makes this gift even more meaningful is the story behind it.

Stacy’s mom passed away when she was just 15. Years later, Stacy continues to celebrate her birthday and keep her memory alive by carrying forward the kindness her mama showed to others.

Her mom believed in simply noticing people, making them feel seen, helping when she could, and loving people naturally. Stacy has turned that legacy into something beautiful: one act of kindness creating endless ripples.

Stacy, thank you for choosing The Third Place QC as part of your mama’s legacy. Thank you to everyone who purchased a shirt and helped make this year’s fundraiser such a success.

Your kindness is helping us continue to make sure our neighbors feel seen, valued, and cared for. 💙

Meet Maggie!

We want to take a moment to highlight our amazing summer intern from Augustana College - Illinois, Maggie Berger! 💛

Maggie has been such an essential part of The Third Place this summer. From accepting donations and helping keep things running smoothly, to conducting intakes and making sure our guests feel welcomed, supported, and treated with dignity and respect: she has jumped into every part of the work with so much heart.

And, of course, we can’t forget that Maggie quickly became our guests’ favorite fashion advisor! ✨ More than once, guests would specifically request Maggie’s help picking out the perfect outfit. We think she may have missed her calling! 😂

We are incredibly grateful for all the time, energy, kindness, and care Maggie has poured into The Third Place. While we’re sad to see her head back to school, we’re excited for everything ahead of her.

And don’t worry, Maggie’s Third Place journey isn’t over! We have a feeling we’ll be seeing her again because she cares deeply about our mission and the people we serve. ❤️

We’re feeling incredibly grateful! 💙

A huge thank you to Royal Neighbors of America for inviting us to their Summit and for honoring The Third Place QC with the Nation of Neighbors Award! 🥹✨

It was such a fantastic night at The Bend XPO, surrounded by amazing women from all across the country who are doing incredible work and sharing the same mission: supporting, uplifting, and assisting our neighbors.

And a very special THANK YOU to our amazing Royal Neighbors Chapter! 💙 Your hard work, dedication, and countless hours of volunteering help keep The Third Place running and make a real difference for our neighbors every single day. We are so lucky to have you in our corner!

We’re honored to be part of this incredible community and so grateful for everyone who continues to believe in our mission.
