Good morning Rochester! ☔️

On this chilly day, we’re cooking up plenty of warm, comforting vegetarian food and opening the door for community connection.

Today at 3 PM - truly the perfect weather for indoor activities and warm food.

Children are welcome. We’d love to see you there!

Our next Potluck Project gathering is coming up!

Topic:“Pluralism: Beyond ‘Us vs. Them’”

Saturday, May 23rd at 3 PM

This will be an open conversation about community, coexistence and understanding across differences. The kind of discussion that feels especially important right now.

As always, this is a potluck style gathering. If you’d like to bring a dish, we’d love that, but bringing food is absolutely not required to attend.

Any food is welcome:homemade, store-bought, family recipes, comfort foods, snacks, desserts, vegan or non-vegan.

If you do bring something, we ask that you include: a brief note or history about the dish and a list of ingredients for allergy awareness

During introductions, we’ll invite anyone who wants to share a little about what they brought.

Call or text (585) 686-5664 to RSVP and receive the event location.

All are welcome. Come as you are.

The Potluck Project Presents

“Action is the Antidote to Climate Anxiety”
Saturday, April 25th at 3:00 PM

We’re gathering again - this time for an Earth Day inspired potluck focused on connection, conversation and simple local action.

Here’s what to expect:
A shared community meal (bring a dish if you can)
A neighborhood clean up walk (supplies pending from the city!)
A guided conversation on local food + how to source more from nearby producers

No pressure, no perfection, just showing up meeting neighbors and doing something small together that matters.

📍 Location shared upon RSVP Text (585)686-5664 to RSVP

Kids welcome. Friends welcome. Come as you are.

Because doing something, even something small, feels better than doing nothing at all.

Thank you to Mo for facilitating a thoughtful and engaging conversation on values at this month’s Potluck Project gathering. It was a meaningful reminder to pause and reflect on how our values shape the way we show up in our daily lives and in our communities.

We were also glad to welcome new neighbors to the table. Creating space for connection is at the heart of this work and we hope to see many of you again at future gatherings.

As the Potluck Project continues to grow, we’re encouraging more community led participation. After attending at least one potluck, participants are welcome to host and facilitate a gathering of their own. This can be centered around a topic you’re passionate about, a skill you’d like to share, or a workshop you’d like to offer - as long as it aligns with our shared values and community guidelines.

We’re grateful for everyone who continues to show up, contribute and help shape this space.

We look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces at our next potluck, which will be held at a new location in the neighborhood. Stay tuned for details!

Hey everyone! I know things in the world feel heavy right now but I wanted to share something hopeful happening right here in our community.

Roc The Potluck Project Inc. is now officially registered as a nonprofit, which means we can start applying for grants and growing this into something much bigger than one neighborhood.

I’m working on the next phase behind the scenes and taking my time to get it right. Less talk, more action. I’ll share more once it’s ready but just know the intention is to keep building something real, useful and rooted in community.

We’re also starting to gather supplies to make these events easier to host and share across the community. If you have any of the following you’d be willing to donate it would make a huge difference:
• Reusable plates, cups, bowls, and utensils
• Washable napkins
• Crockpots, rice makers, electric kettles
• Folding or collapsible tables
• Foldable chairs (adult and kids)
• Extension cords
• Serving items
• Large totes

Every small contribution helps build something bigger.

More soon. Really excited about where this is headed!

We’re hosting our next Potluck Project gathering and I’d love to invite you!

This month’s theme is Living Your Core Values - a chance to slow down a bit, share a meal and talk about the values that guide our thoughts, attitudes and actions in everyday life.

It’ll be a relaxed afternoon with good food, simple activities and open conversation. The goal isn’t to have all the answers - just to connect, reflect and learn from each other.

Saturday, March 28 • 3:00 PM New location - RSVP for the address

Bring: a vegetarian dish to share if possible (no pressure to do so if unable)
Children welcome
Hosted by the Larkin family

If you’ve been curious about coming to one of these gatherings, this would be a great one to join. Everyone is welcome.

Send me a message if you’d like the address.

Potluck Project reminder 🤍

Join us Saturday, the 14th at 3 PM as we gather during Black History Month to honor the legacy of Midge Thomas. This is not a memorial, just a space for food, reflection and community.

All are welcome. Bring a dish if you can, or just bring yourself. Message us for details.

After February’s Potluck Project gathering, we’ll be taking a short pause in March while we reorganize our home to prepare for the possibility of in-laws moving in long-term. If anyone is interested in hosting or co-hosting during that time, I’m happy to support you.

The project will resume in April.

We had originally hoped to welcome Midge Thomas as our living guest of honor for Black History Month. Sadly, she passed away before we had the chance.

This gathering will now be held in her honor and memory, a chance to come together as she so often did around food, care and community.

All are welcome.

Please message us for the event location.
