Town of Starkey residents, property owners, and STR operators — there are proposed zoning and short-term rental changes currently under discussion that could impact the future of vacation rentals in the Town of Starkey.

Topics being discussed include:
• A possible moratorium on new STRs
• Grandfathering existing permitted STRs
• Potential caps on STR density
• Special Use Permit requirements
• Non-transferable permits upon property sale

A public hearing regarding the proposed STR moratorium is scheduled for June 11, 2026 at 7:00 PM at Starkey Town Hall.

We encourage all stakeholders to stay informed and participate in the process.

The Town of Romulus did not pass the new ordinance at Wednesday night's meeting. The town is still accepting feedback on their purposed regulations and the next public hearing will be in the August meeting. We encourage you to attend if you are local!
