❤️ Update on our old senior boy, Boris! ❤️

Boris had a vet appointment tonight, and we received some wonderful news. His heart condition has not worsened, and Dr. K said that Boris is truly beating the odds! At an estimated 19-20 years old, this amazing senior continues to surprise us every day.

We are so happy for him and honored to have the opportunity to let him live out his golden years surrounded by love and care here with us.

What many people don't see are the ongoing expenses that come with caring for our senior animals. Boris's heart medication alone costs just over $100 every month, and that's only one of many recurring medical expenses we take on for the animals in our care.

While we don't talk about these bills often, they are a constant part of rescue life. If you'd like to help support Boris and other animals like him, donations of any amount are always appreciated and make a real difference.

Thank you for helping us give seniors like Boris the love, comfort, and medical care they deserve. ❤️🐾

🐾❤️ A Huge Thank You to These Amazing Girl Scouts! ❤️🐾

We received the sweetest surprise email asking if ROC the Dogs Rescue would like to be the recipient of a special project from a local Girl Scout troop — and of course we said yes!

Today, we were gifted these adorable homemade dog treats made with love by Girl Scout Troop 60293. Our rescue pups are going to be so excited to enjoy these special goodies! 🦴🐶

We are incredibly grateful that these young ladies chose to think of rescue animals and put their time, effort, and kindness into helping our dogs. It means so much to us and to the animals in our care.

Please join us in thanking Troop 60293 for their generosity, compassion, and big hearts. The future is bright with kids like these making a difference in their community! 💕

Thank you, Troop 60293, for supporting rescue dogs and bringing smiles to our pups' faces! 🐾❤️

POTATO IS HOME🥰

LONG READ

Potato had his initial exam and wound care appointment today at Coldwater.

He was sedated so the veterinary team could properly clean and assess the bite wound on his front left leg. Unfortunately, the wound is fairly significant, with exposed muscle tissue, but they were able to clip and clean the area and get him started on treatment.

Potato is now on oral antibiotics and will need daily wound care to help keep the injury clean while it heals. The vet also found a mild ear infection and yeast in his ears, so he has started ear medication as well.

There was some good news today too — his eye stain showed no corneal ulceration. However, he does have entropion, which means his eyelid rolls inward, and he will likely need corrective surgery in the future once he is stronger and healthier.

The vet also noted that Potato will eventually need a dental procedure with likely tooth extractions after he has recovered, been vaccinated, and neutered.

He has a long road ahead of him, but he is finally getting the care he desperately needed. We also want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has donated, shared his story, and supported Potato so far. Your kindness is helping give him a chance at the life he deserves.

If you would like to make a monetary donation directly toward Potato’s care, you can do so through Venmo, PayPal, or directly with Coldwater Animal Hospital!
