Today is the day! Greater Rochester Health Foundation is proud to participate in the 2026 NY Funders Alliance conference in downtown Rochester.

The conference is open to all staff and trustees from grantmaking organizations who work and fund in New York State as well as other organizations that serve philanthropy.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share what we’ve learned through our collaboration with Rochester Area Community Foundation at “From Conversation to Co-Investment: A Think Tank on Cross-Foundation Collaboration.” Together, we’ll reflect on what has helped our partnership work, the challenges we’ve encountered, and practical ways funders can move from shared conversations to coordinated investment.

We are proud to sponsor a free medical, dental, and vision clinic in Mt. Morris, New York, on October 3–4, 2026.

In partnership with New York State Dental Foundation and Remote Area Medical (RAM), the clinic will bring hundreds of volunteers together to provide quality, compassionate healthcare to an estimated 200 people, at no cost to patients.

RAM’s mission is to prevent pain and alleviate suffering by providing free healthcare to those without access. Since 1985, RAM has mobilized more than 230,000 volunteers and provided nearly $215 million in free services to almost one million people.

We’re proud to support an effort that helps ensure people across our region can access the care they need while strengthening the health and well-being of our communities.

Today marks the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.

In our latest Reflecting & Reimagining Blog, Program Officer Rachel Betts shares lessons from the Hispanics in Philanthropy annual conference and considers what Latina Power means in a moment when many Latino communities are facing heightened fear and uncertainty.

Connecting immigration, health, belonging, and community power, Rachel reflects on what philanthropy can learn by listening to communities, trusting their expertise, and providing the flexible resources they need to respond to changing circumstances.

A Year of Partnership, Resilience, and Action

We’re proud to share our 2025 Annual Highlights report — offering a look at what we have learned and accomplished alongside the organizations, residents, and community leaders who are working every day to build healthier communities across our region.

In a year marked by uncertainty and changing funding environments, partners continued to adapt, collaborate, and respond to community needs. We were grateful for the opportunity to support that work through increased giving, the launch of our Rapid Response Fund, expanded co-funding partnerships, and resources that extend beyond grantmaking.

The stories in this report reflect the many ways communities are creating change; from expanding access to food, housing, health care, and maternal health resources to advancing racial health equity, supporting frontline workers, and strengthening rural communities.

They also include a mini-documentary celebrating the residents and organizations who have shaped healthier communities through the Neighborhood Health Status Improvement initiative for more than a decade.

We invite you to explore these stories and learn from the partners who make this work possible. We are grateful to share their experiences, perspectives, and contributions.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Telva Olivares to the Greater Rochester Health Foundation Board of Directors!

Dr. Olivares is an internist-psychiatrist, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, and Associate Vice President of Health Outcomes Optimization at the University of Rochester.

A Rochester native, she has dedicated her career to improving care for underserved communities and people with complex health needs. Dr. Olivares has been instrumental in developing integrated medical and psychiatric care for people with severe and persistent mental illness, including helping establish dedicated primary care and inpatient Med-Psych programs. In 2000, she founded Lazos Fuertes, the only Spanish-language program in upstate New York providing linguistically and culturally responsive mental health care to Rochester’s Latino community.

Her work is grounded in a commitment to advancing health equity and addressing disparities affecting underserved populations, particularly people living with severe mental illness and members of the Latino community. Through her leadership in the newly established Office of Community Health Outcomes Optimization, she is helping advance a more trusted, community-based health system that better responds to the needs of the people it serves.
