What an unforgettable evening! Nearly 500 friends and supporters filled The Hotel Roanoke last Thursday for Blue Ridge Women’s Center’s Night of Life banquet, united by a shared commitment to life and the hope of Jesus Christ. Through powerful stories of lives changed and a glimpse of what God is doing through this ministry, we were reminded that when we stand firm together in faith and generosity, the impact reaches far beyond one evening—touching families and generations to come.

The evening was a blessing, and we are so close to reaching our fundraising goal of $215,000! There is still time to give and help us cross the finish line. Just a reminder that ticket sales end at midnight tomorrow for our annual Night of Life next Thursday, October 8.

Ticket sales are closing soon for Night of Life! There are just a few more days to grab your spot for this unforgettable event. It’s hard to believe we’re just a little over a week away now!

Exciting news: Our new Mobile Medical Clinic will be on-site at Hotel Roanoke to tour at Night of Life on Thursday, October 8!

When you arrive at the entrance, our Mobile Medical Clinic (MMC) will be parked out front, with our nursing staff ready to show how it will operate out in the field.

We’ve given you a digital sneak peek with our walk-through video—but nothing compares to seeing how this bus turns into a fully functional clinic and ultrasound suite.

The MMC will offer all the same medical services we provide at 325 Elm, but in more critical spaces, like outside our local abortion clinics. Make sure to grab your tickets and arrive early on October 8 so you can see for yourself this amazing ministry on wheels.

This year, we are honored to share a patient story that's been years in the making.

Her journey with Blue Ridge Women’s Center began in 2020, when she was just four weeks pregnant.

At the time, Kalyssa was convinced that her positive pregnancy test was the result of a kidney infection. So, she called Blue Ridge Women’s Center and made an appointment, expecting to get some answers.

Instead, she sat across from one of our patient advocates, Hannah, and our nurse manager, Lisa, and heard the news that would change her life: the test was conclusive. Kalyssa was pregnant.

She was in a new relationship, a new city, a new college student, and in an instant, everything changed.

Amidst many overwhelming emotions, Kalyssa made the decision to keep her son.

When asked about her process in choosing life, she shared this: “It just felt like abortion was supposed to be my first option. And then, if I didn’t want an abortion, then I would be ready to be a mother. I don’t think most people are ready when they get pregnant. But it’s something you grow into… I expected to be in a nice house with a big yard, [with] someone I was married to for a long time, probably already finished school. My future then was all about me. I looked into the future and I saw myself only. And now I get to look to my future and see a family. That’s even better than what I could have imagined.”

Today, that baby is a sweet, curious four-year-old boy named Silas.

Her life has changed in many ways since her initial appointment in 2020 and sharing her story in 2021, which is why we invited her back to share where God has brought her over these last few years. Now a faithful follower of Jesus, wife, and mom of three, her story is an example of the long-lasting, generational impact Blue Ridge Women’s Center has on those who come through our doors. Early voting began today in Virginia. This election will have significant implications for our families, our communities and the future of our Commonwealth.

One of the most consequential questions on the ballot is the proposed "Reproductive Rights" Amendment to the Virginia Constitution.

The language that will appear on the ballot describing the amendment is vague and misleading, and even pro-life voters might be deceived. Abortion is already on the rise in Virginia. The consequences of this amendment passing are beyond tragic. We must become informed and help inform others so that they know to vote “NO.”

According to Virginians for Safe Reproductive Policy, “Reproductive Freedom is legal code for the Right-to-Abortion. The courts could certainly interpret this amendment as allowing an unfettered, unregulated right-to-abortion for any reason and at any time in pregnancy. Other states that have passed similar amendments have seen all their safe reproductive health laws overturned.”

For those of us who believe that every human life—from the moment of conception—is created in the image of God and worthy of protection, this is an especially important issue to understand.

We encourage you to learn what is on your ballot, prayerfully consider the issues and candidates, stand firm for life and make your voice heard.

We are only one month away from the Night of Life at Hotel Roanoke! We have so much to share with you and we’d love if you’d join us on Thursday, October 8.

This year’s keynote speaker, Steventhen Holland. His story is a powerful testimony to the value of every life and the extraordinary impact of one courageous choice.

Raised in a loving home in Tennessee, Steventhen never noticed skin color until his childhood classmates called him “weird and different” because he was brown and the rest of his family was white. At eight years old, he learned he had been adopted, planting a question deep in his heart: Why didn’t my mother want me?

After graduating from university and marrying his college sweetheart, him and his wife suffered two miscarriages. These losses prompted Steventhen to search for answers about his health history, answers only his birth mother could provide.

Through his search, he found a woman who chose life amidst unimaginable circumstances. Even with pressure all around her to choose abortion, his birth mother made a profound sacrifice to give Steventhen life.

Steventhen's story testifies to us that every life has purpose, every story matters, and one courageous choice can change generations.

P.S. Earlier this year, Steventhen suffered a life-altering stroke. For some months, we were unsure if he’d be able to join us for the Night of Life. Praise God, Steventhen has continued to improve every day and we are thankful God spared his life--again! We continue to pray for his recovery, and for his wife and daughters as they navigate a challenging recovery. We are all the more looking forward to having him join us next month to share his powerful story!

It’s been a number of years since BRWC has had one of these… a golf tournament! This October, BRWC will be the beneficiary of the Inaugural Covenant Classic.

This year’s tournament is especially meaningful because a group of generous local professionals from the Covenant Business Leaders approached us about organizing it in support of Blue Ridge Women’s Center to help launch our new mobile medical clinic.

Expect plenty of fun, friendly competition, great food and fellowship, plus some awesome silent auction items (think beach homes and cabin getaways) that you won’t want to miss.
