Every 60 days or less, Family Promise of Greater Roanoke welcomes new families into our shelter program. With space to house up to four families at a time, we work to ensure every parent and child arrives to a safe, welcoming environment.

Each family member receives an shelter intake kit with essentials like sheets, a pillow, towel, toiletries, and basic hygiene items. These simple items provide comfort, dignity, and a sense of home during a difficult time.

That's why our Wishlist Wednesday campaign is so important. Donations from our wishlist help us keep these kits stocked and ready for the families who walk through our doors.

📢 Community Outreach Event for Our Unhoused Neighbors

The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office invites individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity to attend our upcoming Community Outreach Event.

This event is designed to provide personal care items, food, support, and an opportunity for members of our community to come together in a welcoming environment.

🤝 Need Assistance?
If you or someone you know could benefit from available services and support, we encourage you to attend or share this information with others. No registration is required.

❤️ Want to Help?
We are also seeking support from community members, businesses, faith-based organizations, and service groups who would like to contribute to this effort. Donations of personal hygiene items are greatly appreciated and will be distributed directly to those in need.

Requested items include:
• Toothbrushes and toothpaste
• Deodorant
• Soap and body wash
• Shampoo and conditioner
• Razors and shaving cream
• Feminine hygiene products
• Wipes
• Socks
• Combs and brushes
• Lip balm
• Hand sanitizer

Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors. Whether you attend, volunteer, donate, or simply help spread the word, your support helps strengthen our community and helps ensure that everyone is treated with dignity and compassion.

📚☀️ Wishlist Wednesday ☀️📚

Summer is here, and we want to help the children and families we serve stay engaged, learning, and having fun all season long!

We're currently collecting donations of books and summer activities to add to our family resource library and activity closet. These items help prevent summer learning loss, encourage family bonding, and provide positive, screen-free entertainment for children of all ages.

Items we are looking for include:
📖 Children's books (all reading levels)
🎨 Coloring books and crayons
🧩 Puzzles and board games
☀️ Sidewalk chalk
🏀 Outdoor play equipment
✂️ Craft kits and activity sets
📚 Educational workbooks and summer learning activities

Every donation, big or small, helps create opportunities for children to learn, explore, and make lasting memories throughout the summer.
