There have been big changes over the past 1-2 years in rescue itself and DFAM Co-Founders. Dana and Alexius completed their BioMedical Science BA and vet school requirements. Although it takes on average 3 cycles of applying to vet school to get in, both girls received acceptance/s their first cycle. Dana accepted to 5+ vet schools is attending WesternU College of Veterinary Medicine and Alexius was accepted, but some life changes and relocation to another state gave way to the goal of becoming a resident in her new state and reapplying in hopes of getting into a school within that state or nearby. You can follow Dana’s vet med journey on Tik Tok Dana | VM1 (IG too but not kept as current). Health conditions and life changes have impacted many of the fosters/volunteers we would count on everyday. We can’t run this alone.

The rescue world has changed drastically. All things that are required for each and every dog that comes into our program, Donations, Volunteers & Fosters are hard to come by and needed more than ever. We will remain on intake hold until things change and people are willing to help.

DFAM rescues responsibly and won’t pull a rescue without reasonable funds raised to care for each dog for at least a few months. 100% of all proceeds go to the dogs, as we are 100% volunteer based. This has put us in and out of intake hold constantly. Going from being able to properly care for, rehabilitate and train 20 dogs in the program at a time, with plenty of people willing to step up, foster, volunteer and donate. Now all of it is extremely hard to come by. THIS is why we have to constantly go on intake hold. It is mentally exhausting, wanting to help, doing things right by understanding and properly providing what these working dogs need. Evaluating THEIR needs, giving higher drive dogs the proper training to create work for them and building strong foundations and proper training for low-medium drive dogs to be wonderful family pets.

We currently need DOG FOOD for the rescues in our program. Please consider donating. Amazon Wishlist in Bio.

⭐️October 30, 2023⭐️
This week the Military litter turned 3 yrs old on October 23, 2026. On the 30th is the anniversary of the rescue of mom, now named Recon and the litter from Riverside Animal Services.
The litter was military themed in honor of Marine Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, one of the Kabul 13. His mom, fostered mom and named mom, Recon, and most of the litter. Ultimately Recon instinctually felt a duty and desire to watch over Shana and naturally become her ESD/Service Dog and first Belgian Malinois. ❤️

All the pups went to amazing homes and are out there living their absolute best lives!

🎉🎂Happy Birthday🎂🎉 and Rescue Week!!!

❤️AVAILABLE❤️ Indy is a sweet, affectionate, unicorn 🦄 Belgian Malinois, 1 to 1.5 yr old, spayed female pup, looking for her forever home. She is playful and enjoys playing with other dogs. Indy is good with cats and loves attention and affection from people. Indy is not a pushover with the dogs and will tell the other dogs what she thinks when they try to take her bed or her toy. She calmly and peacefully became the queen of the house, living with dogs of varying nature including high drive males.
Indy is best suited for a non-chaotic household. For this reason, I would say no small children and would do better in a home where all family members know how to act around and treat a dog respectfully. We believe she did not have this luxury in the past and is what hurt her confidence. When she first came out of the shelter, she was very timid, scared of loud noises and unsure. In our program, we worked diligently on growing her confidence and worked to socialize, desensitize and sensitize Indy to public places, living in a home and enjoying life. She has much improved, is very social, enjoys outings to public places, living in the house and being part of the family.
What makes Indy a true 🦄 is her character, disposition and behavior. She is a low-medium drive Mal, is potty trained and easy. She is calm and well behaved in the house. We leave her free in the home even when unsupervised. Indy is still a pup and as long as she has plenty of toys she sticks to chewing those. No stuffies though….she is a typical Mal in that sense.
Indy is up to date on vaccines, deworming, is spayed and microchipped.
Indy is so incredibly special and one family will be incredibly lucky to have her as part of it.

If you are interested in adopting Indy, use the link in our Bio to apply to adopt.

TAG AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE
IF you see posts from people trying to get rid of or sell Borzoi pups contact the breeder: Sandra Moore-Doby on IG or Sandra Moore-Doby on FB.

Check your local Craigslist pet posts. They would likely try to sell them in a different area/state.

📸breeders photos taken on the 19th)

This is a post I never thought I would ever have to make. These photos are the 5 week old photos from my Borzoi litter taken on Oct 19, 2026. They were taken from fenced area they were in with their mother this morning between probably 6 AM and 7:30 AM. Yes, a police report has been filed. No, I have no idea. Please do NOT call me, I am really not up for talking right now. If you have the puppies and will return them great I am not interested in charging you I just want my babies back. NBRF has been made aware as has the cobreeder of the litter. No, there isn’t anything anyone can do. Yes, my local vet is aware. I am going to turn off comments because I just cannot right now. If you are a friend and you want to call maybe I’ll answer but like as not I won’t right now. There’s not anything anyone can do. They didn’t get out and get lost. Pray is about all I know. By all means spread the word, this is in White County, Tennessee.

❤️AVAILABLE ❤️

Indy, female, spayed, young, Belgian Malinois. She is truly a 🦄 Mal. Low/Medium drive, calm and chill around the house, LOVES to play with her toys and other dogs. Indy is not a big Mal, is easy to travel with and very respectful on the leash. She has done very well with all the dogs, cats and horses. (She will bark at the horses when they come to the gate/fence but only because she learned this from another dog. She is completely fine with the horses in the stalls, turnouts, etc)

Indy is potty trained and knows her basic obedience. She is treat motivated and easy to work with.

When Indy first came to DFAM from the East Valley shelter, she was a little timid and took a little bit to settle in and with new people or public environments. Simple patience and socialization is all it took for her transformation to an attention seeking social butterfly.

Indy will do best in a committed, loving, patient home with another friendly, non-dominant dog. A home where she will be part of the family and get a lot of love and affection.

C/P FB
Free Major protest at AAC this morning.

Major, a Belgian Malinois has been held in solitary confinement by Austin Animal Center for over 500 days.

Last year Major was hit by a truck while on a walk with his owner, his owner ran to get his phone to call for help. While he was gone a bystander attempted to catch the injured Major who bit her.

The bystander has stated she doesn’t blame the dog and has refused to testify against Major, the lead investigator noted the bite as provoked (a defense against dangerous or aggressive dog designations under Texas law)

A professional dog trainer specialized in the breed (Precision K9 Work) has offered to take custody of Major to perform an evaluation and any needed training to insure he’s safe for the public.

Despite all of this the City of Austin Government and Austin Animal Services has aggressively pursued a euthanasia order, they have fought Major’s owner through multiple courts and appeals to kill this dog.

The city of Austin has full power to negotiate a release of Major, they have instead chosen to euthanize a dog for the crime of being hurt and afraid.

OFFICER GETS 15 DAYS IN JAIL FOR STARVING HIS TWO-K9’s, KILLING ONE.

DUNKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS/Gray News) — A former Missouri police officer has been sentenced to 15 days in jail and two years of probation in an animal abuse case involving two K-9s.

On Aug. 24, Derrick A. Durall pleaded guilty to two counts of MISDEMEANOR animal abuse.

He initially was sentenced to one year in the Dunklin County Jail. However, the judge suspended the ex*****on of the sentence, giving Durall supervised probation for two years. He will also serve 15 days in the Dunklin County Jail.

Durall was also ordered to pay the city of Dexter $8,900 as restitution for his negligence, which caused the death of the K-9 Apollo.

The animal abuse and neglect happened in Stoddard County between September 2023 and February 2024.

Durall failed to provide adequate care to K-9 Apollo and retired K-9 Knox by not giving them food and water, resulting in Apollo’s death and serious injury to Knox.

Court documents state Durall, as the Dexter Police Department’s K-9 handler, was responsible for the department’s active K-9, Apollo, and its retired K-9, Knox, both of which were kept in separate kennels at Durall’s home.

Apollo was found dead in his kennel on Feb. 18, 2024.

Investigators said during a veterinary exam after his death, Apollo weighed 41.6 pounds. They said he had lost about 25 pounds since his last visit in September 2023. The vet also described Apollo as having “decreased muscle mass and sunken eyes” as a result of malnutrition and dehydration.

According to court documents, tests also found Apollo had pneumonia, which the vet said was common in dogs that are malnourished. The vet said Apollo’s condition was not caused by pneumonia, “but was likely the final event that led to Apollo’s death.”

Retired K-9 Knox was also evaluated by a veterinarian. It was determined that he had severe heartworms and severely worn teeth. The veterinarian said he had lost about 10 pounds since his last visit and was “generally unkept.”

The Dexter Board of Aldermen voted to fire him from the Dexter Police Department on April 1, 2024.

Big Fry (Raider) and Small Fry (Indy) 🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟🍟

Malinois typically are a light, compact breed ranging from 40-60lbs with females typically on the lower half of that range. However, over the past several years, we are starting to see a lot of variance in size outside of the breed standard.

For work, they should be agile, athletic, able to work all day and able to be carried by their handler when necessary.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
