Join Third Act RVA for a postcard Party May 11th 6-8pm!

On May 11th, we’ll be writing postcards from the Environmental Voter Project (EVP) for the New York Primary. EVP is a non-profit, non-partisan organization laser focused on turning low propensity voters who are likely to choose the environment as their #1 voting issue into reliable “super voters.” They have excellent data proving that they increase voter turnout — often by more than the margin from the previous election. You can learn more about their work here.

Although these postcards aren’t going to directly effect Virginia elections, the idea is that if we can increase the number of environmental voters across the country, politicians will begin to listen because their jobs will be at stake if they don’t. We need legislators on the national level to care about the environment, and right now climate is not top of mind for most politicians, and we want to change that. Local politics are important, and we need to win nationally to make a difference.

We had a wonderful May Day! Third Act RVA set up a table at Boat Lake in Byrd Park and met up with folks from Indivisible and the corner protests and had a great time meeting new activist friends, visiting with old friends, and there was even time for a protest on the street! Lots of honks and positive response. Thanks to all who came out!
