Summer Summit 2026 is officially in the books, and what an incredible four days it was! 🎉

Last week, we welcomed more than 60 girls from across Richmond for our annual four-day Summer Summit experience, an extension of our Game On, Girl! program designed to help girls build confidence, develop leadership skills, form meaningful connections, and stay active throughout the summer.

From biking along the Capital Trail and rock climbing to flag football with River City Sting, yoga with The Well Collective, positive affirmation bracelet making, “Chopped” cooking competitions, and kayaking and paddleboarding with Beyond Boundaries, every day brought new opportunities to learn, grow, and have fun. 🛶🏈🧘‍♀️👩‍🍳📣

And the best part? Several of our interns and our amazing Junior Coaches who have been training all year were there every step of the way, helping participate in activities, encourage participants, and put the leadership skills they've developed throughout the year into action.

Thank you to NextUp and the City of Richmond, VA Government Positive Youth Development initiative for making Summer Summit possible and helping ensure girls have access to opportunities that keep them active, connected, and empowered all summer long. 👏

While we're sad to see Summer Summit come to an end, we're so proud of everything these girls accomplished and can't wait to see what they do next. See you in 2027!

WHAT A FUN NIGHT! 🎉 We had a blast at the Markel Corporate Run, cheering on runners and walkers, passing out bananas and granola bars, dancing and warming up with the Fitness Warriors, and sharing our work with the Greater Richmond community. 🏃‍♀️🏃

One of our favorite traditions is crowning the Charity Cup Challenge winner. Congratulations to Richmond National for taking home the Charity Cup Challenge trophy for the third year in a row! Thank you for your continued support in across Richmond. 🏆

This past month, one of our key partners, , was featured in , highlighting the impact of their out-of-school time programs across the city. At Fit4Kids, we are honored to serve as one of NextUp’s afterschool providers, bringing programs like , Edible Schoolyard, , and Recess Remix to Richmond youth. Through sports, gardening, healthy cooking, active play, and more, students are building healthy habits while having fun along the way. 🏀🍎🌱🏈

We’re grateful to the City of Richmond’s Positive Youth Development initiative and NextUp for helping us make healthy fun and create meaningful impact for Richmond youth. 👏

As the school year winds down, we want to give a HUGE shoutout to our incredible interns! 👏

This year, 17 interns from and Old Dominion University helped bring our Learning Gardens, and policy initiatives to life while building their own professional skills through resume workshops, interview preparation, personal branding, and more.

Whether they were helping a middle school girl shoot a basket for the first time, getting their hands dirty in the garden, or advocating for healthier schools, our interns made a lasting impact on local youth and our community.

We are so grateful for their hard work, passion, and dedication. To those who recently graduated, congratulations! We’re cheering you on as you begin your next chapter. And to those continuing their studies, we hope you’ll stop by and visit. Thank you for helping us make healthy fun! 🌱🏀🍓

On Tuesday, students at were pedaling left and right alongside some Virginia and Richmond leaders! Sixth District School Board Member and First Gentleman stopped by our Learn to Ride program to learn more about bike safety, proper equipment like helmet fitting, and see students build confidence on their bikes. Fun fact: Ann even rode her bike to the lesson!

Through Learn to Ride, Fit4Kids works with students during P.E. classes over a three-week period to help them build confidence riding a bike while learning how biking can serve as a fun, active, and reliable form of transportation.

We’re so grateful to Anne and Adam for taking the time to experience the program firsthand and for continuing to advocate for safer, more accessible streets across Richmond. 🚲
