Building well-rounded individuals here at SwimRVA!

Team record holder, Ayden Greer, had himself quite the close-out to a successful summer season! After enjoying elite level swimming throughout the long course season, the 16 year old traveled to Stanford to battle it out in Law & Trial proceedings before flying over to Greensboro, NC to compete in the Futures Championships!

In California, he was selected for and attended a 10 day Intensive Law and Trial at Stanford which provided students the opportunity to get a glimpse into the legal profession and a taste of the study of law. They learned how to grapple with ethical issues, craft oral arguments, and question witnesses, ultimately leading to a mock trial at the San Francisco Superior Court where Ayden was on the defense’s legal team for a murder trial.

Although he already had several record breaking performances earlier in the season, “AG” still shower yo with sone solid swims at Futures after being out of the water for ten days. 👏 Way to Rise Up in more ways than one!

SwimRVA was well represented at the Live Red Foundation RVA Sprint Triathlon. We had several Rapids swimmers from various ages, getting Rowdy in different races over the weekend in Rockville. Needless to say, they crushed it! Congratulations to everyone who competed and put their skills on full display. Rise Up!

Summer Juniors ✅😎🏊

This past week Rapids swimmers Kylee, Ellie, Crawford, and Thomas represented the Rapids on the national stage at the Summer Junior National Championships in Irvine, California! From making history as the largest number of Rapids qualifiers to collecting several new program records, we could not be more proud of this amazing group of swimmers 💙

Over the weekend we had several Rowdy Rapids compete at our very own East Coast SummerFest! Welcoming our friends from teams up and down the East Coast, this end-of-season championship was filled with energy, fun, and fast swimming. Great work to all of our Rapids who wrapped up the long course season in style! 😎🏖️☀️🦩

Do you remember that time Kylee Crotts won the 50 backstroke C-Final to finish 17th overall at Summer Junior Nationals?? Well….. actually, it just happened! And now it’s a swim we will never forget!! Way to RISE UP with a spicy 🌶️ 29.55!

During a historic year for SwimRVA, it’s only appropriate that we end the long course season by making history yet again! This time around, not one, not two, not three, but FOUR ROWDY RAPIDS will be competing in Irvine, California at the Summer Junior National Championships! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Our Head Senior Coach, Blake Proffitt, is in Cali with Kylee Crotts, Ellie Mierenfeld, Crawford Craig and Thomas Senfield ready to begin competition tomorrow through Friday, and we can’t wait to cheer them on! More to come from the west coast, but for now, time to rest up so they can rise up!

It’s been one heck of a busy week for the Rowdy Rapids!! Down in Greensboro, 13 SwimRVA athletes competed against some of the fastest swimmers in the east at the Futures Championships. The week was highlighted by an A finals 200 free by Sierra Durrette, and multiple team records by swimmers like Caleb Cohen & Charlie Duerson, as well as some spicy relay performances!

When all was said and done, the Rowdy Rapids finished a team record 31st overall (our previous high ranking was 50th), which is pretty impressive considering our four Summer Junior Nationals athletes were not competing. (More to come from them this week as they get set to race in California!)

This means the hard work by our Senior and Senior Speed athletes has led to our greatest Futures performs in team history built on the incredible elite depth that were are seeing grow in from of our very eyes.

Simply put…these 13 swimmers are stars!! ⭐️

Congratulations on the numerous finals swims and the 53 team points(up from our previous record of 20!) We know you had a blast traveling together as a team and can’t wait to see what’s next! Rise Up!

Another brilliant performance has been enjoyed by audiences throughout Richmond as Calvin Kirkpatrick delivered another masterpiece in SPARC’s Cinderella. Throughout the year, Calvin also stars as a terrific young man and swimmer from the SwimRVA Advanced Novice group. He balances that with his time acting with the School of Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC), where he has explored his creative side in theater for the past 6 years.

This time around, Calvin starred as a fox who turned into a footman, playing an important role particularly in the exciting chase scene as the clock struck midnight and the magic was fading.

You may remember Calvin’s performance as the earthworm in James and the Giant Peach, and now you can find him and his sister, Penny, in the Lucy Dacus music video for her song “Planting Tomatoes”. 💙 Way to Rise Up Calvin and Penny!

The Rapids are excited to announce that we have our largest contingency of swimmers competing at the Age Group Zone Championships in team history! A record 16 Rapids athletes will be representing Virginia Swimming at the elite level competition this week where the best 14 and Under athletes in the Eastern United States will be competing.

Congratulations to each of you for earning this prestigious honor and we can’t wait to see how rowdy you get at Zones! 💪
