New Path

New Path The Support Network for Families in Early Intervention When parents first learn their child is developing differently than expected, it can be overwhelming.

They are thrust into a new world that often transforms their notions of what being a parent would be. We are here to guide them on their New Path. Getting children started in Early Intervention is critical, but it’s often not enough. Parents need information, support, and so much more. New Path will guide them as their children move through Early Intervention and transition to the next step. New P

ath and The Arc are here to help you navigate the system … from the very start of the journey and, if necessary, throughout a lifetime. We will help you understand all of the jargon. We will introduce you to fellow parents. We will make sure you know what your rights are. We will share success stories as well as tips for dealing with challenges.

FAMILIES, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Are you currently involved in Early Intervention services or have you been part of the journey with your little one in the past couple of years? Your experiences, ideas, challenges, and successes matter.

We are hosting an Early Intervention Family Listening Session to create a safe and welcoming space for families to share their voices, connect with others, and help shape supports and resources for families across our community.

Whether your journey has felt overwhelming, hopeful, confusing, exhausting, empowering — or all of the above — your story is important.

✨ Join us to:
• Share your experiences and needs
• Help identify gaps and barriers families face
• Connect with other families who understand the journey
• Help us create stronger family-centered supports in Early Intervention

Your voice can help make a difference for other families walking this path. Register below.

The IFSP celebrates caregivers all year! We are honored to work with so many Council members, community partners, and colleagues who have taken on or are stepping up in this important capacity to support people with disabilities.

Today, we are sharing 4 resources that can help caregivers:

1️⃣ The Virginia Lifespan Respite Voucher Program (VLRVP) through the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services: Virginia caregivers (now including kinship caregivers!) are eligible for reimbursement vouchers for the cost of temporary, short-term respite care provided to individuals of any age, with a documented disability or medical condition. Get details and apply: https://www.vda.virginia.gov/vlrv.htm

2️⃣ Our partners at VirginiaNavigator and disabilityNavigator share free caregiving resources and information for people with disabilities and their families. Visit them online: https://virginianavigator.org/.../64213/caregiver-resources and https://disabilitynavigator.org/for-caregivers

3️⃣ Our partners at the Center for Family Involvement provide 1:1 family navigation to help families of people with disabilities navigate services and supports, all over Virginia! Learn more: https://cfi.partnership.vcu.edu

4️⃣ The New Path initiative from The Arc of Virginia was created to support families of infants and toddlers (birth to age 3) with developmental delays or disabilities. Learn more and connect with other caregivers: https://www.thearcofva.org/prenatal-and-early-childhood-resources
