Kesem is a nationwide community, led by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer with innovative, fun-filled programs that foster a lasting community. Kesem is a diverse community led by passionate and empathetic college students working to ensure that children facing the challenges of a patients cancer have space, connection, and support
to rediscover the joys of childhood. Kesem at Virginia Commonwealth University was founded in 2013 and supports children in the Richmond community by providing a free week-long summer camp experience and year-round Through and Beyond support services. Camp Kesem at Virginia Commonwealth university is operated by 102 student volunteers and serves campers ages 6-18 per year. Kesem operates at more than 130 chapters coast-to-coast. It's programs and services are all funded by generous donations from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. Kesem is a federally registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
