Congratulations to the 2026 Virginia Motorcoach Association Estes-Counselman Scholarship Recipient Matalyn Shelander!

Hi everyone! My name is Mattie Shelander, and I am an 18-year-old recent graduate of Central High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. I am incredibly grateful and excited for this next chapter of my life! Throughout high school, I stayed actively involved in my school and community by participating in cheerleading and tennis while also completing over 350 hours of community service. Giving back has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey, and those experiences have helped shape the person I am today.

My dream is to become a pediatrician and one day open my own pediatric clinic. I have always had a passion for helping others, especially children, and I hope to make a positive difference in their lives and the lives of their families. I believe that caring for children is about so much more than treating illnesses—it's about bringing comfort, encouragement, and hope when they need it most.

This fall, I will begin my college journey at Pellissippi State Community College before transferring to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, to continue pursuing my goals in healthcare. I am also proud to work at both Aerie and UT Medical Center, where I serve as a Nurse Tech in the Neuro/Stroke Department. These experiences have only strengthened my passion for medicine and inspired me to continue working toward my dream of becoming a pediatrician.

I am so thankful for the opportunities that have brought me to this point, and I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me.

One of the highlights of the 2026 VMA/NCMA Regional Meeting is the Coach Presentations & Coach Visitation, where motorcoach operators, fleet owners, and transportation professionals can explore today's featured coaches and talk directly with the manufacturer representatives who know them best.

Take your time walking through the coaches, discover the newest features and innovations, and get answers to your questions about performance, safety, passenger comfort, and more. It's a great opportunity to compare equipment, gather ideas, and see what's new in the industry—all in one place.

As an added benefit, Top Sponsors will enjoy extended visitation time, providing even more opportunities for demonstrations and one-on-one conversations.
