McShin delivers peer to peer recovery support services to those seeking recovery from substance use disorder as well as their families. We have recovery related, health/wellness, and family groups held daily at McShin. The participants are able to bond with others seeking recovery and start a new journey in life. We also have judicial programming and deliver peer recovery support into those incarcerated. Our staff are all in recovery from a substance use disorder and can share their lived experiences with the participants that come through our program.

The McShin Foundation was pleased to host Texas Pictures, late last week, as they filmed new episodes for their Documentary Series on Addiction, Fentanyl, and Recovery. Jesse Wysocki and Jonni Lanteigne were able to add their voices to this important national conversation. This was the second time that Texas Pictures temporarily called McShin home as they continue to bring attention to stories of recovery and substance use across America. Thank you to everyone who participated.

The McShin Foundation is proud to celebrate Melanie "MJ" Johnson's third anniversary of continuous recovery.

As Events and Community Engagement Manager, MJ plays a vital role in advancing McShin’s impact in the community by organizing blockbuster events like Recovery Fest and Winter Wonderland Holiday Celebration. When she’s not in her third-floor office, she can often be found planning for the next extravaganza that demonstrates to the community-at-large just how much recovery rocks!

The McShin Foundation was pleased to participate in the Henrico Reentry Council Annual Fall Family Festival and Resource Fair, an event dedicated to supporting justice-impacted individuals and families throughout the Greater Richmond area.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with community members, share information about our recovery support services, and collaborate with other organizations committed to helping individuals on the road to citizenship restoration.

The McShin Foundation would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Virginia Dept. of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) (DBHDS) for the opportunity to host this week’s SPF Application for Prevention Training at the McShin Foundation Recovery Center, this Monday through Thursday. We appreciate our continued partnership with DBHDS and the opportunity to support education, collaboration, and professional development within the recovery community.

The McShin Foundation is proud to celebrate Tylean King's third anniversary of commitment to our mission.

Tylean serves as McShin's Community Outreach Manager and a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. Tylean conducts outreach to underserved populations in Richmond neighborhoods where current SUD prevalence is at its highest. Tylean also serves as a member of the Richmond Opioid Task Force, and is the AmeriCorps site supervisor at The McShin Foundation.

If you see Tylean in the building today, or out in the community, please be sure to give her a high-five! Thank you, Tylean, for all you do!
