Our mission is to connect the furnishings and design industry in Richmond, Virginia.

As the "voice" of the total furnishings and design industry, IFDA provides its members with the tools and resources to enhance their businesses. Aggressive advocacy promotes the advantages of working with an IFDA professional. IFDA welcomes members from every facet of the furnishings and design industry. Members are executives and companies professionally engaged in the design, production, distribution, promotion, communication or education in the furnishings and design and/or related industries.

We had a great time touring Maymont mansion with our members on a beautiful fall day. Our expert tour guide shared their historical knowledge about the Dooley’s and the people who worked there to make such a grand estate function. Completed in 1893 and donated to the City of Richmond in 1926, all of the furniture is original to the home or their summer estate, Swannanoa. From the parquet flooring, to the damask covered walls and hand painted ceilings, this mansion is a living museum to the Gilded Age.

Thank you to our hosts McKinnon and Harris for a personal tour for IFDA members of their showroom and workroom. Their high performance aluminum furniture is made to order by master craftspeople at their workshop in the Scott’s Addition neighborhood in Richmond. It was incredible to see the level of care and detail in each and every piece made.
