"A State Corporation Commission hearing examiner has ordered NextEra to produce additional records involving past political allegations, an internal investigation, and the company's dealings with political consultants, as regulators review its proposed $67 billion merger with Dominion Energy.

"Since 2024, Richmond police have received 95 warnings and citations for speeding through school zones, according to data obtained by The Times-Dispatch through the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.

Those account for roughly 0.05% of the 179,636 total tickets issued to motorists by Richmond’s 26 speed cameras. The devices, the first of which were rolled out in 2024, are distributed across 13 city school zones and are only active from 7:15 to 9:15 a.m. and from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. on school days."

A Richmond police spokesperson said some of those tickets may be dismissed, but did not say how many were currently under review.

The last locality to formally voice its opposition was Campbell County, where the board of supervisors on Tuesday voted 4-3 to approve a resolution against the proposed line, called Joshua Falls to Yeat."

Following her five-city “Energy Costs Listening Tour,” Hashmi said at a news conference the proposed merger is not in the best interest of Virginians, citing a “breaking point” for high energy costs.

Hashmi said her decision is based on community concern about the State Corporation Commission review standards and financial hardships on ratepayers."

"Henrico County is ending its contract with Flock Safety, making it the largest Flock camera user in Virginia to cancel the automated license plate reader system.

The county’s 122-camera network is being dismantled amid residents’ rising concerns over privacy and the use and potential misuse of the collected data.

The county announced Tuesday it will terminate its agreement with Flock Safety within the next week. Flock, a private company, has the largest nationwide network of ALPR cameras."

"The two men who previously owned the troubled Shoosmith Landfill have been arrested on felony charges after being indicted by a Chesterfield grand jury.

Fred Gerald Nichols, 83, and Paul Lawrence McGee, 76, who both live in Texas, appeared in Chesterfield Circuit Court on Wednesday morning after turning themselves in, according to court documents.

Nichols and McGee were indicted Sept. 21 and charged with willfully abandoning a waste facility, a Class 4 felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. They also face two misdemeanor counts each of discharging industrial waste into state waters."

Former Shoosmith Landfill owners Fred Nichols and Paul McGee were arrested after being indicted on felony charges tied to the troubled Chesterfield landfill.

"The parties and intervenors in this SCC merger case have signed agreements to adhere to a protective ruling requiring a certain degree of confidentiality, so it’s not clear if the public will ever get to see the Robo Memo. But those same parties and intervenors, including the governor, are now entitled to at least review this apparently scandalous memo, a memo that NextEra Energy fought so hard to keep secret."

Clean Virginia convinced State Corporation Commission Hearing Examiner D. Mathias Roussy, Jr. that the Robo Memorandum should be discoverable in the merger proceedings.
