Research Studies 2 and 4 of VCU-RRTC on Employment of Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities project have released three new research briefs now available for viewing and downloading. Study 2’s Research Brief breaks down their study about the Quality of Life in employees with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Study 4’s first Brief highlights the work they are doing in evaluating the effects of the career network intervention on career development activities and employment outcomes of students with IDD. Study 4’ second brief provides information on technical assistance and how it effects positive outcomes for students with disabilities.

In Part 2 of Both Sides of VR, Dr. Phil Rumrill and Chris Claude examine how vocational rehabilitation (VR) has evolved amid artificial intelligence, changing labor demands, and systemic constraints. Dr. Rumrill stresses that person-centered service, consumer choice, and lived experience must remain at the heart of the VR process rather than being overshadowed by administrative compliance. Ultimately, the conversation advocates moving beyond simple job placement toward long-term career development by combining expert guidance with deep respect for consumer goals.
