Feast RVA

Feast RVA The goal of Feast RVA is to identify and reward the variety of creative projects coming out of Richmond, VA.

Through recurring public dinners, we democratically fund new and emerging art makers. FEAST RVA is a not for profit community driven project to democratically fund the work of local creatives. FEAST (Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics) began in Brooklyn, New York as an organization that believed creative work should not have to rely solely on the support of exclusive, private capital. T

he idea is simple, FEAST attendees donate $25 for dinner at a local venue. Upon entry, participants receive a ballot with a list of proposals by local artists. Throughout the night short presentations are given for each idea, after which attendees have the opportunity to discuss the proposals with the artist. At the conclusion of the night, ballots are cast, and the artist with the most votes receives around $500 comprised of a portion of the door money. Started in 2009, the Brooklyn FEAST project has raised over $15,000. FEAST RVA intends to join the ranks of others around the country who are rethinking how art and creative work is being funded. Not only will FEAST RVA offer networking opportunities for creative people with ideas, but it will enable one artist per event to walk away with cash in hand to support his or her project.

Tonight’s event is officially SOLD OUT! For those who grabbed tickets, we’ll be looking forward to sharing these projects with you:

1) Summer Night Lights RVA - A summertime violence prevention event between June - August with fun activities for children and life resources for adults and families. - Shatara Weaver

2) Beats, Rhythm, & Life LLC - Organizing local youth music showcases that aim to serve as a platform for the young unheard musicians of Richmond, Virginia to display their musical prowess. -Azzuri Fleming

3. CHEW - We are trying to address food inequalities and food knowledge with cooking classes. -Jason Muckle
