This Memorial Day, we honor the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their selflessness and bravery will forever be remembered.

Today, and every day, we are grateful.

At the end of April, we traveled to Lewistown, Pennsylvania, to deliver CIT Support Training for 911 professionals. This training brought together 911 call-takers to strengthen skills that help identify crisis calls, support de-escalation efforts, and contribute to safer, more effective responses for individuals in crisis.

Much like crisis intervention work itself, this important training would not have been possible without strong partnerships at the national and local levels. Thank you to the USDOJ COPS Office and CIT International for your continued support in delivering this training nationwide, and a special thank you to the Mifflin County Office of Public Safety for hosting us in Lewistown.

We’re grateful to every participant who showed up ready to learn and continue carrying this important work back to their communities.

Last month we attended the Virginia Sheriffs' Institute (VSI) Conference to share information about the VSI Certification Program and to celebrate the 43 individuals who achieved VSI Certification or Recertification in 2026! Achievement of this credential recognizes a Virginia sheriff or deputy’s commitment to excellence, life-long learning, and advancement of public safety as a profession.

We are honored to collaborate on this important program with VSI, the Virginia Sheriffs' Association (VSA), and the Performance Management Group at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government & Public Affairs.

We salute this year’s impressive group of leaders representing 20 sheriff’s offices in Virginia. Thank you for your dedication and congratulations on this well-deserved recognition.

NCPI had the pleasure of being part of the Virginia Sheriffs' Institute (VSI) Spring Conference & Virginia Sheriffs' Association (VSA) Exhibition, where we connected with law enforcement leaders from across the Commonwealth of Virginia. We were there to celebrate the individuals who achieved VSI Certification or Recertification in 2026, to share exciting progress within Virginia VINE, and to expand partnership opportunities that strengthen Virginia’s public safety community.

NCPI was honored to collaborate for the tenth year with VSI, the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association, and the Performance Management Group at the VCU L. Douglas Wilder School of Government & Public Affairs to administer the VSI Certification Program, which recognized the continued individual professional development of Virginia sheriffs and deputies.

If you are looking to enhance your leadership skills, or to build future leaders within your organization, we’d love to offer support. Please contact us to explore resources, trainings, and services available to you!

Listen. Act. Advocate. Protect victims, serve communities.

This is the theme for this year’s National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (April 19-26), a week dedicated each year to providing awareness of the challenges victims face after a crime. The theme of “Listen. Act. Advocate. Protect victims, serve communities” calls for a proactive, compassionate approach to supporting survivors and building safer, more responsive communities. One valuable resource is Virginia VINE, Victim Information and Notification Everyday, a nationwide automated notification system that provides confidential, real-time updates about custody status and can connect survivors with resources in their communities. VINE is administered in Virginia by NCPI.

NCPI closed out March at the Virginia Association of Regional Jails (VARJ) 26th Annual Conference, where Amy Sheets presented on Virginia VINE, a statewide victim notification system that provides timely custody status updates. The session highlighted the critical role booking staff and jail personnel play in entering accurate, real-time information into the system, helping keep victims and communities informed and safe. We're thankful to engage with this community and further strengthen our collaboration in enhancing safety and support within our region.
