Meet Bernadette. šŸ’œšŸ¾
Bernadette's story started for us with one tiny kitten.
Last spring, a lawn-care worker found a lone kitten while cutting grass at an empty house. One kitten by itself seemed strange, so we went back to the property, convinced there had to be more.
We didn't find another kitten.
But we found Mom.
After talking with neighbors and sharing photos, we learned Bernadette had once belonged to a family who moved away and left her behind.
She turned out to be an incredible mom — not only to her own baby, but also to a tiny kitten who was later found alone and soaking wet in the rain. Bernadette took that baby in too.
Now her mothering days are behind her, and it's Bernadette's turn.
She's incredibly sweet, loves pets and attention, and wants to be near her people. She's lived peacefully with other cats and a dog, although we think she'd be perfectly happy being the only cat and getting all the love for herself.
Bernadette has been with us for quite a while, so one of our volunteers (Sage Hammack) created this beautiful portrait of her. It will go home with her adopter.
She spent part of her life being left behind and then devoted herself to caring for babies who needed her.
We'd really love for someone to choose Bernadette now.

Meet Al Catone. 🐾
Al was supposed to be a TNR.
When he first came to us, he was so dirty that we thought he was a cream or buff-colored cat. Then an upper respiratory infection delayed his surgery, which meant this former street guy suddenly found himself spending a lot more time indoors than he'd planned.
He wasn't exactly thrilled with the arrangement.
The stress led to overgrooming, and Al licked off much of his coat. But when it grew back in bright and clean, we discovered the truth:
Al Catone is actually a white cat. šŸ˜‚
And that wasn't his only transformation.
Little by little, Al settled in. His coat came back. He relaxed.
And then one day, Al Catone started playing with toys.
Apparently retirement has its perks.
We think Al is about 5 years old. He gets along with other cats and even lives peacefully around a dog, although we suspect his dream home would be one where he gets to be the only cat and undisputed king of his castle.
Al is FIV-positive, but that's only one part of his story.
And because every former street boss deserves his own portrait, a friend (Sage Hammack) created this incredible ā€œAl Catone — Alcatrazā€ artwork. The print will go home with his lucky adopter.
If you've got room for a slightly rough-around-the-edges former street guy who's discovered the finer things in life, Al Catone would like to discuss the terms. šŸ’œšŸ¾

A little update from LiFELINE šŸ’œšŸ¾

I realize I more or less disappeared from the rescue scene without ever really explaining why.

Since June 22, I’ve been dealing with serious health issues, multiple surgeries, and repeated hospital stays. At the time it all began, LiFELINE had a very full roster of cats and kittens in care, and I had to step away almost overnight.

I was incredibly fortunate to have people in the rescue community step in to help get cats placed, cared for, transported, fostered, and supported. Others continued quietly keeping pieces of LiFELINE moving in my absence, including helping our cats at PetSmart continue finding homes.

I’m not going to start naming names here because so many people helped in different ways, and the last thing I want to do is unintentionally leave someone out. Please know how deeply grateful I am to every single person who showed up for LiFELINE and for me when I couldn’t do it myself.

I’m finally beginning to feel better and improving every day, so I’m beginning to ease back into things. But I’m doing it differently this time.

Right now, my focus is on rebuilding the infrastructure behind the rescue — fosters, volunteers, transportation, supplies, systems, and support — before trying to take on rescue work again.

My return to active rescue will still depend on my rate of recovery. I still can’t drive or lift, so there are very real limits on what I can physically do right now.

You’ll hopefully start seeing more activity here again as I rebuild. Please don’t take that to mean intake has reopened. For now, I’m simply working toward making LiFELINE stronger, more sustainable, and better prepared for whatever comes next.

Thank you for sticking with us. šŸ’œ

Happy 4th!!! I am in need of a foster or a couple of fosters who can help me out for a 2-week rotation of our kittens in Petsmart. They just need a little break and some time to run around a have fun before they go back for round 2. Everything you’d need would be supplied and you have no idea what a huge help you’d be to me right now if you’re in a position to help. I know everyone is slammed - so it feels like a really big ask, but thanks for considering šŸ’• 2 black, one gray and the rest are tabbies.
