Since March 31st we have lost so many young people in the city of Richmond. Teenagers who will not have the chance to graduate from high school go on to college or get married and have children. They have left families to struggle with their murders. And as a result your families have become dysfunctional struggling everyday to survive the trauma of losing a loved one.
So I urge you to tell your story and your journey of how it is to live this way. I know personally because I've lost the son to the very same thing that I want you on TV everyday. Let someone know of you that they are not alone. That they became a part of a club that no one wants to be in. A club is grief and sorrow. That club is trying to cope all on your own. That club is knowing everyday that your loved one will never come back. The justice system can prosecute the predator that took your son or daughter's life but it will never make you whole. I pray everyday that someone else in this city will not have to endure your tragedy to this magnitude. The reality is someone will. And they will join this very club. Will you be a support system for them? Or will you be silent? Let's hear your voice today for I believe we are our brother's keeper.
