sy public library located in Fairfax County VA, serving the residents of Reston, Herndon, and surrounding communities. We want our Library to be the best it can be, providing the technology, collection materials, and localized programming that meet our community's needs. To support this objective, the Friends work to promote literacy efforts in our community, and to raise awareness of the Library and its resources, and to raise funds to fill in the gaps wherever we can, to make these resources as strong as possible.

Chat, we are having this End of Summer Reading bash rain or shine!

Pull up to the library tomorrow between 11am and 2pm for activities!
Summer Readers, check in at the Information Desk to get your prize booklet AND tickets for the !

Visit our Station to see real fossils and learn all about searching for these amazing treasures, and all we can learn from them!
Local vendors and will be serving ice cream and empanadas to help us celebrate our Summer Readers and fuel up families for !

We can't wait to celebrate our Summer Readers and gear up for Back to School at our End of Summer Reading / Back to School Bash on Saturday, Aug 22 in Reston. Did we mention we will have an amazing local fossil collector there in person to show off some fantastic finds? Plus the Fairfax County Park Authority Wonder Wagon, , , and our Kids and YA Back to School Book Sale! Summer Readers can bring their coupons and use them at the sale to pick out a free book!

Oh No! Much like the age of dinosaurs 66 million years ago, our 2026 Summer Reading Adventure is soon coming to an end, but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate all the fun we had along the way!

Join several of our branches this weekend and next week for special Summer Reading Adventure send-off events and help us to say "so long" to another great year! If you haven't already, stop by the information desk and turn in your finished logs to collect your hard-earned prizes.

Whether it’s been full of soccer and sun or backyard bbq or road trips or just hiding under the back porch waiting for cooler temperatures, we’re guessing everyone is ready for a change! And that’s where the Friends of the Reston Library come in!

Round off your Summer Reading Adventure and get ready for a new school year with our Back to School book sale for Kids and Teachers.

Here's one big reason why people love our sale: We have over 20,000 items, they are all cleaned, and they are sorted by reading level and type. (Okay, that's three reasons.)

Board Books? Yep.
Non-Fiction Science? You got it.
Every Junie B. Jones book you can think of? Of course!
DogMan? Get 'em while they last!

Got a kid you love in Grades 5-6 but not sure what they might like? Head to the 5-6 section and ask around… between our volunteers and your fellow browsers you’re bound to get some great recommendations.

Books are *gently* used AND run about $2-3 each. Proceeds go to help the library.

So grab your Summer Reading coupons and head to the library! Shop our sale to help young readers, your budget, and our library all go further!
