Congratulations to Reno Rodeo Foundation Student Support Scholarship recipient — Kacey Cook! 🎉

A 2023 graduate of Damonte Ranch High School, Kacey earned a $500 Reno Rodeo Foundation Student Support Scholarship as she continues her education at Western Nevada College, where she is pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing with the goal of becoming a critical care flight nurse.

With a 4.2 GPA, Kacey has demonstrated an impressive commitment to both her education and her community. Deeply connected to Nevada’s western lifestyle and agricultural community, she has balanced rigorous nursing coursework and clinical training with years of involvement in 4-H, ranch work, horseback riding, wrangler positions, and volunteer service throughout Northern Nevada.

Kacey has also worked to build the skills needed for a career in emergency care, earning certifications in phlebotomy, wilderness first aid, and emergency medical services. She has volunteered with medical response teams, evacuation centers, therapeutic riding programs, and community outreach efforts, always finding ways to lend a helping hand to both people and animals.

Her dedication to serving others extends beyond the classroom. Through her education, work, and volunteer service, Kacey continues to build a career centered around providing compassionate care when people need it most.

Kacey’s resilience, determination, work ethic, and commitment to her community reflect the mission of the Reno Rodeo Foundation Student Support Scholarship. We are proud to support her as she continues working toward her dream of becoming a critical care flight nurse.

Congratulations to Phyllis & Howard Weiss Scholarship recipient — Hailey Harder! 🎉

A 2026 graduate of Debbie Smith CTE Academy, Hailey earned a $10,000 Phyllis & Howard Weiss Scholarship as she prepares to continue her education at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she plans to study Veterinary Medicine.

With an impressive 3.92 GPA, Hailey has distinguished herself as a dedicated leader in agricultural education and student organizations. She served in multiple FFA officer roles throughout high school, culminating in her role as Chapter President during her senior year. Hailey has also competed nationally through FFA, SkillsUSA, and FBLA, earning numerous state and national honors in leadership and career technical competitions.

Beyond the classroom, Hailey has been a dedicated athlete and mentor. She served as captain of her varsity soccer team and coached youth soccer, sharing her passion for the sport while encouraging younger athletes.

Hailey is also deeply committed to giving back to her community. Through community outreach projects, school recruitment events, and veterans support initiatives, she has consistently found ways to serve others and make a difference.

Passionate about agriculture, animals, and leadership, Hailey hopes to use her education to continue serving her community while pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. Her academic achievement, leadership, determination, and commitment to agricultural education embody the values honored by the Phyllis & Howard Weiss Scholarship.

For the second year in a row, The Goddard School of South Reno has stepped up for children in our community through a drive benefiting the Reno Rodeo Foundation’s Reading Rooms.

Our Reading Rooms provide safe, welcoming spaces inside Northern Nevada courthouses for children and families who may be there during difficult and uncertain moments. Filled with brand-new books children can take home, along with comforting stuffed animals, these rooms offer a little comfort, care, and normalcy when it can matter most.

We are incredibly grateful to the families, children and staff at The Goddard School for once again collecting items for our Reading Rooms and supporting the children we serve. Having a community partner return year after year means a lot to us, and every item donated helps us keep these spaces stocked and ready for the children who need them.

Thank you, Goddard School of South Reno, for making the Reno Rodeo Foundation part of your giving again this year and for helping us support children experiencing adversity across Northern Nevada.

A toothbrush. Shampoo. Deodorant. A hairbrush.

They’re everyday items most of us don’t think twice about. But for a child in foster care, having brand-new essentials of their own can provide a little dignity and comfort during an incredibly difficult transition.

That’s why Ryder Homes is stepping up for children across Northern Nevada by hosting a Reno Rodeo Foundation Denim Drive hygiene collection from September 28 through November 6.

Every item collected will support our Denim Drive, which provides brand-new clothing, shoes, hygiene products, and other essentials directly to children in foster care across Northern Nevada.

Congratulations to Tom Dolan Scholarship recipient — Grace Wackerly! 🎉

A 2026 graduate of Virginia City High School, Grace earned a $10,000 Tom Dolan Scholarship as she prepares to continue her education at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she plans to study Accounting with the goal of becoming a Certified Public Accountant.

With an impressive 3.97 GPA, Grace has distinguished herself as a dedicated student leader and athlete. She serves as Vice President of her school’s National Honor Society chapter, captain of the varsity softball team, and Storey County representative on the Nevada State Superintendent Student Advisory Board for Education.

Grace has also excelled academically through Western Nevada College’s Jumpstart program, earning Dean’s List honors while balancing varsity volleyball and softball. Her ability to succeed academically while taking on leadership roles and competing in athletics demonstrates her exceptional dedication and work ethic.

Beyond the classroom and athletic field, Grace is deeply committed to serving her community. She has volunteered with local food pantries, participated in youth mentorship programs, supported senior center events, and helped lead programs for middle school students.

Grace’s academic excellence, leadership, dedication to athletics, and commitment to serving others embody the values honored by the Tom Dolan Scholarship. We are proud to support her educational journey and can't wait to see all she accomplishes as she pursues her goals in accounting.
