A first pitch, a signed baseball and a day Koe and his family will never forget. ⚾️ ❤️

Reno Rodeo Foundation Rodeo Wish recipient Koe Mannens took the mound at Greater Nevada Field Sunday to throw out the ceremonial first pitch as the faced the Sacramento River Cats, but the day was about so much more than baseball.

From a behind-the-scenes tour and meeting Aces players to Kids Club activities and enjoying the game from a suite donated by the Aces, Koe and his family were welcomed to the ballpark for a day filled with joy, connection and memories.

For Koe, the highlights were playing with Archie and Truckee and throwing that first pitch. For his family, it was a chance to simply spend the day together and watch their kids be kids. ❤️

This is what Rodeo Wish is all about: creating meaningful, personalized experiences for children facing serious medical, mental or developmental challenges and giving families moments of joy and normalcy when they need them most.

A huge thank you to the Reno Aces for going above and beyond to make Koe’s wish come true. We’re grateful for community partners who help us make these moments possible. 🫶

Congratulations to Reno Rodeo Foundation Student Support Scholarship recipient — Andrea Trujillo! 🎉

A 2025 graduate of Procter R. Hug High School, Andrea earned a $500 Reno Rodeo Foundation Student Support Scholarship as she continues her education at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she is pursuing degrees in Nursing and Spanish.

A dedicated first-generation college student, Andrea has earned a 3.54 GPA while balancing full-time coursework, employment, and a strong commitment to leadership and service. She is actively involved in the TRIO STEM Program, Pre-Nursing Cohort, and Upward Bound, programs that support and empower first-generation students as they pursue higher education.

Beyond the classroom, Andrea continues to make a difference in her community by coaching girls’ basketball at Hug High School and supporting student engagement initiatives through the University’s Office of Indigenous Relations.

Andrea’s passion for nursing was deeply shaped by her own medical experiences and her desire to advocate for Hispanic and underserved families navigating the healthcare system. Her resilience, compassion, and commitment to helping others embody the values of the Reno Rodeo Foundation Student Support Scholarship.

We are proud to support Andrea as she continues her educational journey and works toward a future in nursing where she can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Yesterday, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office joined the Washoe County School District Police Department to officially launch the new WCSDPD-WCSO Chill Patrol ice cream cart. The kickoff took place during back-to-school events at Traner Middle School and Glenn Duncan Elementary School, where deputies and officers served ice cream to students and families.

A special thank you to the Reno Rodeo Foundation for generously donating the ice cream!

The Chill Patrol will be visiting schools each month and making appearances at community events throughout Washoe County, so be on the lookout to see where we roll up next!

Congratulations to Al Evans Silver Spurs Scholarship recipient -- Amaya Roper!🎉

A 2026 graduate of Reno High School, Amaya has earned a $10,000 Al Evans Silver Spurs Scholarship to continue her education at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she plans to study Veterinary Science and pursue her passion for animal welfare and veterinary medicine.

With a remarkable 4.0 GPA and an impressive record of leadership and achievement, Amaya has competed in cross country, track, and basketball while serving as captain of the cross country team. She is also a member of Reno High’s nationally competitive We the People program, earning district and state honors before advancing to compete at the national level in Washington, D.C.

Beyond academics and athletics, Amaya has dedicated her time to serving her community through volunteer work with Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful and local community races. She has also gained valuable hands-on experience as a veterinary assistant at Klaich Animal Hospital, further preparing her for her goal of becoming a veterinarian and returning to Reno to serve her community.

Amaya’s academic excellence, leadership, commitment to service, and passion for making a difference in the lives of animals reflect the values honored by the Al Evans Silver Spurs Scholarship. Congratulations to Reno Rodeo Foundation scholarship recipient -- Alyssa Ayers!🎉

A 2026 graduate of Oasis Academy, Alyssa has earned a $5,000 Reno Rodeo Foundation Scholarship to continue her education at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she plans to study Biology and Public Health as she works toward her goal of becoming a Physician Assistant.

With a 3.88 GPA and an impressive record of leadership, Alyssa has served as Junior Class President, Sophomore Class President, National Honor Society Historian, and ASWN Senator at Western Nevada College. She has also balanced her academic commitments with serving as captain of both varsity volleyball and varsity lacrosse, completing full-time college coursework while finishing high school, working, and volunteering through CASA and student advocacy initiatives.

Alyssa’s experiences overcoming personal hardship and helping care for her younger siblings during periods of family instability have shaped her resilience, compassion, and commitment to serving others. Her perseverance, leadership, and dedication to making a difference in her community embody the values of the Reno Rodeo Foundation.
