Family Respite Care of Nevada is at the Newton Care Collaborative 2026 Resource Fair at the National Automobile Museum in Reno!

Stop by our table to meet our team and learn how FRC gives caregivers the Gift of Time through safe, fun, inclusive respite care for children and young adults.

This event brings together organizations and professionals supporting individuals with disabilities throughout Northern Nevada. Explore resources for education, therapy, recreation, advocacy, healthcare, employment, respite care, and more!

Newton Learning Center supports students with autism in Reno, helping them build academic skills, social connections, and confidence. We’re excited to connect with others working to support individuals and their families. 💜

⏰ Resource fair vendors are available until 2:00 pm, with museum access through 4:00 pm.

🎉 Congratulations to the 13 members of the Family Respite Care of Nevada team who completed Track 1 of Safety Care by QBS, led by our Director of Programs, Jada DeLeon!

Safety Care builds skills in understanding behavior, preventing challenging situations, using supportive communication, and helping individuals safely deescalate while protecting their dignity. This training is part of our extensive ongoing training efforts to ensure our staff remain equipped and well prepared to serve children and young adults in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. 💚

A big thank you to The Discovery for providing the space to complete these trainings! Your support helps our team continue learning, growing, and giving families the Gift of Time.

🌟 An honor worth sharing!

Family Respite Care of Nevada was honored to receive the Silver Star Award for Mental and Behavioral Health from Truckee Meadows Tomorrow at last week’s Accentuate the Positive event!

Over the past week, we celebrated with our incredible team and Board of Directors and had some fun sharing the award with the kids who make our work so meaningful. 💚

This recognition reminds us of the why behind our mission: giving caregivers time to rest and recharge while children and young adults enjoy a safe, inclusive place to play, build friendships, and belong.

Our latest family survey reflects that impact: 99% of responding families reported satisfaction with our programs, 99% reported reduced caregiver stress, and 100% said their stress would increase if our services ended.

Since last August, FRC has seen enrollment increase every month, highlighting the need for dependable respite care in Northern Nevada. Behind that growing demand are families who need support and children who deserve opportunities to have fun and feel included.

Family Respite Care of Nevada invites the community to its 30th Birthday Circus Celebration on Thursday, November 5, at the Carnival Midway inside Circus Circus!

The celebration will feature circus magic, carnival games, midway treats, entertainment, and raffle prizes for guests of all ages. Tickets are just $50 for adults and $30 for children, and children under 2 are free. Each ticket includes food and a preloaded play card for the carnival games. Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase additional game cards and enter raffles for a chance to win prizes!

David is taking over the first night, so come dressed in your best 80s neon attire or Halloween costume. Pizza will be served for dinner! 🍕🎃

The entire community is invited to enjoy The Discovery’s 15th Annual Halloween Trick or Treat from noon to 5:00 p.m. Come dressed in your favorite costume, trick or treat from gallery to gallery, explore spooky decorations, and enjoy hands on exhibits throughout the museum. 👻🍬
