We call it, BIG RED. It is a 1954 Ward LaFrance 1000gpm Pumper with a 500 gallon tank that's on display in our company museum at Station 1 (downtown). We paid about $17k for it in 1954... we'd love to see your guesses below on what a new apparatus costs today.

You guys…. We did a thing. A big thing. And we hope you will join us.

The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company hosted an invitation-only event on Thursday, June 4 to officially launch its new RBVFC Endowment and Ladder Society. The inaugural gathering raised more than $100,000 to help seed the new endowment. This endowment is creating a pathway for donors to make a lasting investment in the future of emergency services in the Rehoboth Beach community for generations to come.

The Ladder Society is a major gifts initiative created to build long-term financial support for the RBVFC. Entry into the Ladder Society begins with a minimum $5,000 gift to the endowment, and members remain active with minimum annual contributions of $1,000. As donors increase their giving, they climb the ladder and receive greater recognition for their support.

The Founders Circle recognizes donors who join the Ladder Society in its first two years, people the program refers to as “luminaries” because they are lighting the way for others. The Legacy Circle honors individuals who include the RBVFC Endowment in their estate plans or wills, to whom the program bestows the term “legends”. The kickoff event brought together these generous luminaries and legends, supporters, community leaders, and members of the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company for an evening that celebrated philanthropy and community service. Food was catered by , with signature desserts provided by celebrity chef Dru Tevis and Chase Cline of Brûlé Bakery. Carrie Lingo of Jack Lingo, Realtor and Dale Lomas of Atlantic Liquors assisted the RBVFC in coordinating the event and also made generous contributions.

Additional business leaders in attendance included Susan Kehoe of Browseabout Books, Sue Wood of The Cultured Pearl Restaurant & Sushi Bar, and Jeff and Lily Gosnear of Grotto Pizza. Among the other generous donors recognized were Dennis and Stacy Sullivan, Ann Lingo, Larry Richardson and Joe Filapek, as well as several members of the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company.

Junior Firefighter Aiden Raucci and Career Firefighter/ EMT Emily Morgan graduated the Delaware State Fire School Spring 2026 Firefighter I and II Academy on Saturday June 6, 2026. Both members completed 186 hours of both classroom and live fire training and to earn their National Pro Board Certifications.
