💖 Celebrating the Power of Pan: Happy Pansexual & Panromantic Pride Day! 💛💙
Today, December 8th, is a significant date in the LGBTQIA+ calendar: it is Pansexual & Panromantic Pride Day! This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize, celebrate, and amplify the voices and experiences of pansexual and panromantic individuals around the globe.
What Does Pan Mean?
The term "pan-" comes from the Greek word meaning "all" or "every."
Pansexuality describes an attraction to people regardless of their gender. This means a pansexual person's attraction is not limited by traditional gender binaries or specific gender identities; they can be attracted to men, women, non-binary, agender, genderfluid, and all other gender identities.
Panromanticism is a romantic orientation that follows the same principle: a panromantic person's romantic attraction is not limited by gender.
It's important to understand that pansexuality is not the same as bisexuality, though both orientations involve attraction to more than one gender. For many, the term "pansexual" specifically emphasizes the attraction regardless of gender, often highlighting the inclusion of non-binary and gender-diverse people in their sphere of attraction.
Happy Pansexual & Panromantic Pride Day!
