Fresh Art Pop-Ups continues July 3–6 with The Uninvited Birthday: Native Voices on July 4th, an exhibition by the Native Artists Pathways Fellowship.

As the country reflects on 250 years, this show asks us to make room for a fuller story.

Long before 1776, this land was home to sovereign Native peoples whose cultures, stories, languages, and creative practices continue today. The Uninvited Birthday brings together Indigenous artists from Delaware and the surrounding region to share work rooted in resistance, resilience, healing, sovereignty, and truth.

This exhibition does not seek to take away from celebration. It asks us to expand it.

Through painting, mixed media, fiber arts, storytelling, photography, and multidisciplinary work, the Native Artists Pathways Fellows remind us: Native artists are still here. Native stories are still being told. Native futures are still being created.

After meeting through DAC's Emerge Program as accountability partners, ceramic artist Suzi Goodenough and artist/jeweler Caitlin Wood discovered that while their work looks very different, they share a common passion for creating meaningful, handmade work.

The result is Rooted & Bold.

Rooted in nature, texture, and the grounded beauty of the natural world. Bold in color, design, and self-expression.

Join us for this week's Fresh Art Pop-Up Show and experience a collection of handmade ceramics, jewelry, and original artwork created with intention, curiosity, and a whole lot of heart.

People often ask us why DAC does this work. When DAC first moved into West Rehoboth in 2016, we didn't know much about the history of the community we were joining. As we listened and learned, we discovered a rich and largely untold story.

West Rehoboth was once a thriving, close-knit African American community filled with family-owned businesses, restaurants, shops, gathering spaces, and jazz clubs. Yet many people who visit Rehoboth Beach today have never heard these stories.

Artists are storytellers, and we knew that bringing this story to life through the power of artists was a no-brainer. And that's exactly why this celebration exists, because if communities don't tell their stories, they can be forgotten.

As part of our commitment to honoring and preserving the history of West Rehoboth, we work alongside residents, historians, artists, and community leaders each year to host the West Rehoboth Juneteenth Celebration—a community-wide event that celebrates the people, stories, and culture that continue to shape this neighborhood.

On June 19, 2026, we're doing it again.

Fresh Art Pop-Ups continues June 19–22 with The Colors of You — a powerful exhibition led by Dakeim Tolson and the Kreators Mill Tattoo & Art Studio team exploring Black presence at the beach through art, storytelling, and collective memory.

Created as part of the West Rehoboth Juneteenth Celebration, the exhibition reflects on culture, identity, history, and community while honoring the stories that have shaped this place for generations. Throughout the opening evening, visitors can experience live artist activations, creative performances, and opportunities to engage with the artists behind the work.

More than an exhibition, The Colors of You is an invitation to celebrate culture, preserve history, and create space for stories to be seen, heard, and remembered.

"I want to quit my day job, but I don't know if it's actually possible."

That was Mary.

Like so many artists, she was working a full-time job while trying to build her creative business during nights, weekends, and whatever spare moments she could find. She was making work, doing shows, and moving forward, but everything felt squeezed into the margins of her life.

One of the biggest shifts for Mary in Emerge wasn't some magical business secret. It was getting clarity.

When she completed her time audit, she realized just how much of her life was being spent at work and commuting. Then she built out her cash flow projections and started playing with real numbers instead of guesses.

And that's when something clicked. For the first time, she could actually see a path forward. Mary didn't quit on a whim, she had logic and a plan. Emerge just gave her the clarity (and perhaps some confidence!) to take the plunge.

Today, Mary has left her full-time job and is focusing on growing her creative career. She's taking on more shows, pursuing bigger opportunities, and building a life with more time for the work she actually wants to be doing.

"The business side is making me wear way too many hats."

That was Mike Jo.

Like a lot of working artists, Mike isn't just doing one thing. He's painting murals, creating illustrations, taking commissions, managing clients, juggling deadlines, and somehow trying to keep everything moving forward at the same time.

For a long time, his strategy was basically, "I'll figure it out when I get there." And honestly? That's how a lot of artists operate.

The challenge isn't that you're not working hard. It's that every part of your business has its own process, timeline, and demands. At some point, keeping it all in your head stops working.

One of the biggest shifts Mike made in Emerge was creating systems that actually support the way he works. Now he's building schedules, workflows, and routines that help him balance bigger projects, smaller projects, and everything in between without feeling like his week is constantly on fire.
