Developing Artist Collaboration

Developing Artist Collaboration We transform communities by elevating Artists. Art is a form of communication, an artist's creative vision is their story and their medium is how they tell it.

Artists can sustainably impact the world with their vision with a little help of resources, collaboration, and understanding their value

We had a crazy idea: give artists a room and let them do whatever they want. Turns out, it was one of the best ideas we’ve ever had. 💡

We hand DAC Artists the keys to the Artpothecary and ask them to take a risk. Transform the room, try a wild idea on their own, or collaborate with someone unexpected. Make something they’re not completely sure will work yet.

What makes this space different is we don’t make them earn back the room. There’s no rental fee and no pressure to sell. Artists only pay a small commission when work sells, and if nothing sells, they owe us nothing. In order to get artists to take big risks, you have to make the barrier as low as possible.

This summer, 38 artists transformed the same room across 16 Fresh Art Pop-Up Shows, welcoming 4,000+ visitors and generating more than $15,000+ in reported artist sales so far. Turns out, when you give artists freedom, an audience, and permission to experiment, some pretty incredible things happen.

Now we want to keep it going year-round, and we need your help! Because artists deserve spaces where an idea doesn’t have to prove it can make money before it gets the chance to exist.

Help us keep giving artists the keys. 🪩

Donate. Join our email list. Share Fresh Art Pop-Ups with someone who should know this exists. AND it's not over yet. We have one more summer pop-up show this weekend with Brittney Bodner featuring her incredible large-scale acrylic paintings.

Our FINAL Fresh Art Pop-Up Show of the Season 🎨 SEP 4TH - SEP 7TH "In Color" by Brittney Bodner

For the final Fresh Art Pop-Up Show of the season, Brittney Bodner is filling the Artpothecary from floor to ceiling with massive, emotionally expressive paintings.

Brittney has painted her entire life. Creativity has always been part of her story. Her paintings explore identity, transformation, resilience, and layered emotion, ranging from intimate pieces to enormous acrylic works that demand to be experienced in person.

And after an entire summer of watching artists completely reinvent the Artpothecary week after week, we can't think of a better way to finish than by giving Brittney the space to GO BIG.

🎨 Friday, September 4 | 5–9 PM
Opening Night + meet Brittney alongside the West Side Creative Market

💡 Saturday, September 5 | 5–9 PM

The hill we’ll die on? Artists need other artists. 💡 It’s so easy to look at another artist selling out a show, landing an opportunity, or seemingly crushing it online and feel like there’s somehow less room for you. But the second you stop seeing other artists as competition, your world gets bigger. You swap ideas, realize they’re dealing with the same weird stuff you are, recommend each other for opportunities, find collaborators, make introductions, and actually start rooting for each other.

📣 Scarcity creates competition. Connection creates possibility.

That’s why DAC Artist Connect exists. No forced networking, no awkward elevator pitches, no formal agenda. Just artists in a room with other artists, because you never know what can happen when you actually get to know your creative community. 🪩

September 1 | 4–6PM | DAC Artpothecary 37401 Malloy St. Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971

Current DAC Artist Members + artists curious about joining are welcome. No RSVP needed.

We can’t get over Shoreline 🪩! Gabe and Mike Jo have been with DAC since the early days, and getting to facilitate this collaboration between two artists we’ve watched grow was really special.

This show was such an incredible collaboration. Every detail was planned and executed professionally with so much love. Mike Jo with the custom hand painted lotus and local painted scenes, plus an interactive lotus mural and Gabe with handmade jackets and limited release collections (and adorable models!)

Shoreline completely took over the Artpothecary. Art, design, fashion, friendship, family, a packed house and somehow ALL of our first ever fashion show right through the middle of it all.

This is exactly why we built Fresh Art Pop-Ups. Give artists a space, let them experiment, and see what happens when the community shows up. We are so proud of what this room has facilitated this season!

If you missed Shoreline it will be open again this Monday, August 24th 5-9PM right here in beautiful historic West Rehoboth.

Huge shoutout to Crooked Hammock Brewery for donating beers for us to serve at the show that Mike Jo designed the labels of! In a world of AI, it’s easier to cut corners with cheap branding and Crooked Hammock is passionate about investing in a artist illustrated brand (and we think it pays off!)

Fresh Art Pop-Up AUG 28 - AUG 31 ✂️ WORLD IN PIECES by Randee Exler

What happens when you take something apart and turn it into something completely new? World in Pieces transforms the Artpothecary through the mixed-media collage work of Randee Exler, exploring three distinct approaches to her practice: Layered Light, Excavation Collage, and Illustrative Collage.

But this Fresh Art Pop-Up isn't just about seeing Randee's work, she wants you to make some of your own. Throughout the show, Randee will share her process and invite visitors to experiment with imagery, layers, texture, and composition through hands-on collage experiences designed to prove that creativity is for everyone.

Randee is also offering collage workshop experiences throughout the weekend on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Artpothecary. Email [email protected] to register.

WE WANT YOU TO COMPETE. 🌮🍹 Think your taco has what it takes? Got a margarita that deserves a trophy? Bring it to TacoMania 2026. We currently have 5 COMPETITOR spots left!!

Why compete?
Because it's a BLAST (obviously!)
Because hundreds of hungry people get to try your creations, and learn more about your restaurant, bar, or food truck.
Because bragging rights are very real (ask Papi from Shore Island!)
And because supporting local artists while serving up something delicious is a pretty great way to spend a Thursday night.

Restaurants, bars, food trucks & culinary creatives, we want YOU in the lineup. Taco Throwdown. Margarita Showdown. You in? Competitors will be announced in September.

You don’t have to know anything about art to know when you’ve found something special. ✨

West Side Creative Market was built to make supporting local creativity feel easy, fun, and genuinely worth leaving the house for.

Come talk to the artists. Ask about commissions. Discover a musician you’ve never heard before. Eat something made in a tiny kitchen on wheels. Grab a drink that helps keep our nonprofit running. Bring your kids, your dog, your date, your friends... or just bring yourself.

And if you don’t buy a single piece of art? That’s okay, too. Follow an artist. Take their card. Tell someone about them. Come back when you need the perfect gift.

There are a million little ways to support a creative community. Showing up is one of them. ❤️

Fresh Art Pop-Up AUG 21 - AUG 24 🌊 SHORELINE with Michael Johnson & Gabe Moser

Coastal life isn't just a landscape. It's a culture, a community, and a way of moving through the world.

And Friday night, they're taking it somewhere completely new...🔥 Surf Lotus is hosting its FIRST-EVER FASHION SHOW at the Artpothecary!

Founded by Gabe, Surf Lotus uses graphic design and wearable art to foster conversations around mental health and community connection. Mike brings his own perspective through pattern, repetition, movement, and coastal storytelling, continuing work he's developed through DAC's Emerge program.
