“Burnout is not a parenting failure—it’s a systems issue.”

Parents of children with special needs who work full time are carrying more than most people realize.

Here’s how to protect your energy and your family:
• Simplify your schedule
• Build routines that reduce stress
• Let go of guilt
• Choose connection over perfection

Your child doesn’t need a burned-out parent. They need you—supported and present.

At Run Saniyah Run, we stand with families every day. 💙

Working parents of children with disabilities don’t “use PTO like everyone else.”
They often use it to cover medical reality
• surgeries + hospital stays
• therapy + specialist visits
• school meetings + urgent calls
• flare-ups that don’t respect calendars

So when the parent needs an actual break to recover… there’s nothing left.

And then it can turn into stress on both sides:
Parents feel judged. Managers feel stuck. HR gets pulled into a situation that’s bigger than policy.

Run Saniyah Run is pro-family AND pro-employer.
The goal is simple: support caregiver employees and protect team operations.

3 practical fixes that help everyone:

✅ 1) Separate Caregiver Leave (even small)
A dedicated paid bank prevents “vacation” from being used for medical crises.

✅ 2) Predictable flexibility (not chaos)
Intermittent leave planning, appointment-friendly scheduling, and remote options when possible—so teams can plan coverage.

✅ 3) Clear process + manager training
Consistency matters. A simple guide for managers reduces confusion, protects privacy, and prevents unfair assumptions.

If you’re HR or leadership: what’s the biggest challenge you face supporting caregiver employees while keeping operations running?
If you’re a caregiver employee: what one change would help you most?

The real help begins at home.

Most people see a special needs parent “doing fine” at work.
What they don’t see is the second shift that starts the moment they get home.

Home can mean therapies, paperwork, safety monitoring, medications, meals, meltdowns, and zero sleep—while life still keeps coming: cleaning, laundry, dinner, car repairs, and everything in between.

And too often, society’s message is: “That’s your child, so you deal with it.”
Love doesn’t cancel exhaustion. Families need practical support—where the stress actually lives.

Here’s how coworkers, family, and friends can truly help:
✅ Send dinner (a real meal)
✅ Cover a house cleaning
✅ Help with a car repair or ride support
✅ Take one task off their plate without making them manage it

That’s why Run Saniyah Run exists. We help reduce the load by coordinating real-life support like house cleaning, restaurant dinner delivery, and help with car repairs—so parents can breathe and stay standing.

If you want to support a special needs family or partner with us to help more parents, message me.

We’re done “raising awareness.” We’re building support that actually shows up.

If you’re raising a child with special needs, you don’t need another inspirational post.
You need resources, relief, and people who understand the system.

That’s what Run Saniyah Run is here to do — across Delaware.

What we’re actively doing for parents (real services)

Resource navigation (so families don’t have to figure it out alone)

Support and wellness programming (because burnout is real)

Connections to local services and community support

Advocacy guidance for parents who are tired of being ignored

And for employers, we offer a free 30–45 minute lunch-hour session to support employees raising children with special needs. No cost. Practical. Easy to implement.

But I’m not posting this to talk at you.

I want to hear from the people living it:

Parents/caregivers: What is the #1 resource you wish you had right now?
(Example: respite care, therapy access, school advocacy, transportation, benefits help, emotional support, other)

HR/leaders: What is one caregiver support practice your company would actually defend as “real” — not just compliant?

Drop one line in the comments. If you’re not comfortable sharing publicly, message this page and we’ll respond.

We’re building this with you — not for optics.

Snow day. Schools closed.
Calendar full.
Routine… gone. ❄️

If you’re working from home with a special needs child today, hear this:
You are not aiming for 100%.
Lower the bar. Aim for 60%.
Regulation > productivity.
Survival with dignity counts.
Front-load your most important work.
Use a visual schedule.
Build in movement, sensory breaks, and flex time.
And when it falls apart?
Mute the call. Meet the need.
The meeting can wait—your child can’t.
Adaptability is your superpower.
You’re not failing. You’re doing the impossible. 💙
