September is ! ❤️
We take this time every year to celebrate Deaf people and recognize Deaf culture and communities. It's also a great time to learn how we can create more accessible workplaces and communities for Ohioans who are Deaf.
In case you missed it: Here in Ohio, Officer Carl DeForest is showing what's possible when talent and determination are met with the right opportunity!
After facing more than 150 job rejections, Carl became Ohio's first Deaf police officer—and the nation's first Black Deaf police officer. OOD was very proud to support Carl on his journey, including assistance with his police academy training and the technology he now uses on the job.

And we want to hear from you throughout Deaf Awareness Month! What's one thing you wish more people understood about being Deaf, Deaf culture, or communication access?
