Last Saturday, members were busy across Wake. Every week we take action together to build our strength and stand up for what we deserve.

Wake NCAE has a serious 2 year plan to grow our union and turn things around for public education. It’s time to get organized and get to work. We know that real power comes from The People!

Join us Wednesday, October 7th, for a BIG event to kickoff our school year and this election season. We will have Anita Earls and other special guests talking about our plan to win together. There will be music, food trucks, and more. All are welcome.

Wake NCAE is proud to endorse Tyler Swanson for Board of Education District 9.🍎🗳️

Tyler Swanson is a former WCPSS Special Education teacher and former NCAE member, currently serving as the youngest Board of Education Chair in Wake County’s history. Mr. Swanson has thrown himself into the work of Board leadership, shaping policy, building consensus, and getting things done - even in an increasingly devastating political environment. We look forward to continuing to work with Mr. Swanson to elevate educator voice in the fight for the schools our students deserve.

Wake NCAE is proud to endorse Maddie Segal for Board of Education District 7. 🍎🗳️

Maddie Segal is a WCPSS parent with professional experience in federal nutrition policy and state-level advocacy. As a board member for the NC Alliance for Health, she spearheads efforts to ensure free school meals for all students. Ms. Segal has demonstrated both a principled, fighting spirit and a commitment to thoughtful reflection and nuance. We are excited to support her campaign and hopeful about working together to strengthen educator voice in the service of our students.

Wake NCAE is proud to endorse Jasmine Zavala for Board of Education District 1.🍎🗳️

Jasmine Zavala is a small business owner, a former elementary school teacher in Wake Forest, a policy analyst, and a first-generation college graduate and daughter of immigrants. Zavala is motivated to run by a deep and earnest commitment to equity and fairness, and our members look forward to partnering with her to bring new ideas and energy to Wake County schools.

Our District Organizing Committee debated and voted last night as the final step in a highly participatory endorsement process. Stay tuned for more endorsement announcements to come!

Wake NCAE is proud to endorse Christina Gordon for Board of Education District 2.🍎🗳️

Since her appointment to the Board, Christina Gordon has led with courage, clarity, honesty, and rigor. Her deep lived experience as a National Board Certified veteran teacher, a WCPSS parent, and an organizational leader has been evident in how she engages difficult issues in the board room. Our members have been inspired by, and grateful for, Ms. Gordon’s willingness to champion her conscience, even under pressure.

✨As the 2025–2026 school year officially ends, let’s celebrate all of the incredible organizing we did together. We have wins to build on, lessons to carry forward, and huge goals for our year ahead.
