Today, in North Carolina, thousands of adolescent girls and young women returned to school.

While many have thought about ensuring students have school supplies, some have forgotten about hygiene products as a necessity.

According to recent data, 1 in 4 teens in North Carolina has missed class because they did not have access to tampons or pads.

You can help to directly reduce the amount of girls who miss class by ensuring period products remain on our shelves.

While you’re making a grocery run or planning for the upcoming holiday season, consider donating period products to us.

We accept:
💗 Pads
💗 Pantyliners
💗 Tampons
💗 Feminine hygiene wipes

What is Fun Friday at NWNG? 💗

Sure, you see the funny reels. The trends. The dancing. The moments that make us laugh. 😂

But Fun Friday is about so much more than that.

The work we do can be heavy. Every day, we hear stories of crisis, respond to urgent needs, and work to ensure women, girls, and families have access to the basic essentials they deserve.

Fun Friday gives us space to breathe. To laugh. To connect. To remember that behind this mission are real people who need joy, too.

Because we believe you can do serious work and still have fun. You can carry a meaningful mission and still laugh until you cry. You can pour into your community while also taking care of the people doing the pouring.

So when you see us being silly on your timeline, just know—it isn’t a distraction from the mission.

It’s part of how we sustain ourselves for it.

Happy Fun Friday from the team that works hard, laughs hard, and shows up every day to make dignity possible. ✨

We’ll see you next week!

The clock is almost here. ⏰

In 14 days, our Executive Director will step away from the comforts she knows and into 48 hours of intentional discomfort—to bring visibility to the realities too many unhoused women face every day.

September 1. 8:00 AM.

The clock begins.

Will you watch? Will you listen? Will you act?

08/14/2026

It’s another FUN FRIDAY at NWNG! 😂

Kendall may not be here, but we are!

At NWNG, we take the mission seriously—but we don’t take ourselves too seriously (in case you haven’t noticed).

Because when women and girls come through our doors looking for essential hygiene products, we’re not hiding in the back. We’re showing up, answering the call, and making sure dignity is within reach.

And while we have your attention: Have you adopted a bin yet? 👀

For $250, you can help us keep our shelves stocked and ensure the next woman who walks through our doors hears, “Yes, we have what you need.”

Adopt a Bin. Keep Dignity in Stock. Make an impact.

Oh.. and Shirnetta didn’t have the flu. 🤒

Friends, Shirnetta here.

A dream became a moment.

I’ve been sitting with this - trying to find the words of what this means for our organization and the community it serves.

Yesterday, we welcomed the first-ever shopping guest into our Dignity Boutique.

She walked through our doors alongside her case manager, and for a moment, we got to witness what we’ve been working toward all along: a woman experiencing crisis being able to have a choice for the basic hygiene products she needs—with dignity, without judgment, and without having to wonder if she had enough money.

This moment started long before yesterday.

It started with the vision.
It started with the generosity of our community.
It started with A Gala for Dignity, where supporters believed enough to help us create a space where dignity could become tangible.
It started with every person who has hosted a hygiene drive or adopted a bin.

And now, we see what happens when we all come together.

Thank you, StepUp Ministry for your amazing partnership over the years and for referring our very first guest inside our Dignity Boutique.

There are no words to describe the joy and gratitude she experienced.

“Come in. Choose what you need. We’ve got you.”

Those were Rosa’s words. (If you happen to see Rosa, please cheer her on, as she’s worked so hard to get our Dignity Program up and ready for guests.)

I’d also like to thank TG Floristry for being a true community partner. She provided floral bouquets for our first guest.

Yesterday was one woman.

But because of our community, she won’t be the last.

I hope that you’ll join us. Adopt a bin, host a drive, make a pledge or sign up to volunteer with us.

We need you, like never before.

In community,

Shirnetta 💗

It’s Top 5 Tuesday!

Top 5 Tuesday communicates are Top 5 most URGENT items to ensure we can continue responding to incoming referrals.

This week, here are our Top 5:
💗 Washcloths
💗 Body lotion
💗 Hand sanitizer
💗 Deodorant
💗 Pantyliners

By shopping our Amazon Wish List or directly purchasing hygiene products, this helps to reduce waiting times for families in need.

No one woman or girl should ever have to wait for what they need.

Happy Fun Friday from the NWNG Team!

We may have been singing with hygiene products in our hands, but did you notice what was behind us?

Empty bins.

To us, those bins don’t represent what’s missing. They represent what’s possible.

Every bin is waiting for someone to write the next chapter for a woman, a child, or a family experiencing a crisis.

One adoption can turn an empty bin into relief or confidence for someone else.

So while we’re having a little fun today, the mission continues.

💗 Help us write what’s next.
Adopt a Bin. Host a drive. Shop our Amazon Wish List.
Keep dignity in stock. Make hope possible.

Oh! ..and, never be nervous to speak to us! 🤣

What a beautiful reminder that even in loss, love can continue to serve others.

When you Adopt-A-Bin at NWNG, you’re doing more than keeping it stocked for a year—you’re creating a lasting tribute that restores dignity to women and girls experiencing crisis and transition.

Honor someone who changed your life.
Celebrate someone who inspired you.
Leave a legacy that keeps giving.

💗 Adopt a bin for $250.
💗 Adopt 3 or more bins and become a Dignity Keeper, helping ensure our shelves remain full and hope remains within reach.

Because the greatest memorials aren’t just remembered—they continue changing lives.

Since moving into our new Family Distribution Site, we’ve seen a rise in need like never before.

Currently, we’re experiencing peak season. This is our busiest time of the year. Young girls are returning to school, college students are navigating life on their own, more families are relying on medical care and storm season is here.

We simply can’t continue responding with empty bins.

💗 Here’s how you can help:

1. ADOPT A BIN - This ensures a bin remains full for a full year.
2. SHOP OUR AMAZON LIST - Products are shipped directly to our door and placed immediately on our shelves.
3. HOST A DRIVE - Be creative, rally friends or loved ones and fill up a box.
4. VOLUNTEER - Help fulfill requests, sort inventory or go out in the community with us.

What can you do to make a difference?

08/02/2026

Friends, Shirnetta here.

For the last five years, I’ve had the privilege of serving women experiencing hygiene insecurity, chronic homelessness, and crises. Their stories have changed me. They’ve also challenged me to ask a difficult question: How can I ask my community to care about something many of us have never had to experience ourselves?

The truth is, hygiene insecurity is one of the most invisible crises facing women today. We see may see someone who is unhoused with our physical eyes, but we often miss the quiet and psychological realities that come with it—the uncertainty of finding a shower, managing a menstrual cycle with dignity, brushing your teeth in the morning, or simply feeling clean enough to walk into a room with confidence.

So, for 48 hours, I’m stepping away from the comforts and certainty of my own reality. I will rely on the same public transportation, food options, and limited resources available to many of the women NWNG serves.

The difference is that after 48 hours, I get to go home. For some women, the clock starts again. For too many women, they live this everyday.

My hope is that these 48 hours will open hearts, challenge perspectives, and inspire deep conversations around dinner tables, with friends, boardrooms, communities and more.

Share Dignity 48. Talk about it. Walk this journey with me.

Join me on September 1, when the clock begins.

With so much hope,

Shirnetta 💗
