The Fall Session class schedule is underway for Putney Community Cares! Some of our classes are currently full, but there is room in some of our Tai Chi classes and in our yoga classes. If you've wondered if yoga is mean for you, check out one of our classes:

--Gentle Yoga, Wednesday 4:30-5:30 (starting 9/2/26): Gentle Yoga is taught in a very accessible way with ample opportunity to challenge yourself more as desired. The focus is on balance, mobility, range of motion, core strength, and mindfulness. Individualized attention is given to help you learn what works best for your body.

--Mindful Movement, Mondays, 3:30-4:15pm (new day & time!, starting 9/14/26): In Mindful Movement you will be guided through simple but powerful exercises that will help you reconnect with your body with curiosity and compassion. This class draws from multiple somatic practices that develop mobility, balance and emotional wellness.

Looking forward to our 2nd WalkSafe Putney meeting to discuss how to utilize the AARP grant funds. Please join us if you can tomorrow, Wednesday 8/5/26 at 5pm. We will meet at Putney Community Cares (54 Kimball Hill). Our goal is to settle on some concrete plans for using the funds in the next few months.

Putney Community Cares will begin planning for the use of AARP Vermont Community Challenge grant funds and we are looking for community input! These funds could be used for purchasing and installing road signage, benches and other traffic calming measures in a few key downtown locations. If you are willing to meet as a volunteer on the advisory group, we will be meeting at 5pm at Putney Community Cares on the following dates:
-- Monday, July 20
-- Wednesday, August 5

Can you join us for the WalkSafe Putney advisory group? We are meeting tonight at 5pm at Putney Community Cares (54 Kimball Hill). We will be considering how to prioritize the use of funds toward making the downtown area more walkable. We are officially a 2026 grantee! Putney Community Cares has received a Community Challenge grant from AARP Livable Communities and AARP Vermont! We’re incredibly proud to receive this investment to help make Putney, Vermont more livable for people of all ages. With this grant, we will use walk audit findings to identify pedestrian safety improvements, including crosswalk testing, benches, signage and traffic calming. The effort will improve walkability in a busy downtown area for residents of all ages.

One of the first steps we will make it to bring together folks interested in helping us to prioritize the use of these grant funds! We will plan to have brief meetings at 5pm on July 20 & August 5. During the summer is a challenging time to schedule meetings, but we need to move forward with investments that will make our community a more pedestrian safe place! What a fun event! Thank you to Putney VT Fire and Rescue for turning out for our Meet & Greet event with the Community Nurse. The Town of Putney, Vermont is safer because of the work of these first responders!

Thank you to Putney Food Coop for delicious wings and to Putney General Store (and cake artist River) for a phenomenal cake. Putney Community Cares so appreciates our Community Nurse, Kurt Wohlfeil, and the work he puts in to connect our community.
