Attention Homeschool families! ‼️
Our weekly Wild Wolves Play Day is moving from Wednesdays to Fridays.

🐺 Wild Wolves Play Day is a child-led time for exploration, play, and projects. Wild Wolves may spend one day building shelters in the woods, another day creating art from found items, or another day tracking the birds they see and hear - it’s all driven by what catches their interest.

Wild Wolves meet on FRIDAYS from 10am-12pm from September 11 - November 20 (no meetup Oct. 9 for Fall Break). This is an all-weather program and is entirely outdoors. Bathrooms are available inside the Wolf Gap Education Center. No registration is required, and there is no cost to attend.

A Wolf Gap staff or volunteer facilitates Wild Wolves Play Days. Caregivers are expected to stay with the group, while giving their children freedom of exploration. Children of all ages are welcome.

This is an unstructured outdoor play time, and we can't wait to see you in a few weeks!

We're thrilled to announce that archery is making a comeback this Fall, and we're taking it to the next level by introducing an after-school session!

We've had an overwhelming number of requests from non-homeschoolers who are eager to join in on the fun, so we're excited to open up our Friday afternoon 4pm-5pm class to ALL archers ages 6 and up, including adults! 🎯

Whether you're a seasoned pro or a complete beginner, this is the perfect opportunity to try your hand at this exciting sport. 🏹️ Our classes are designed to be inclusive and welcoming, so don't worry if you don't have your own bow - we've got you covered!

Homeschool archers are invited to join us for any of these once-a-week classes, which are carefully structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Archers will have the chance to learn new skills, improve their technique, and make new friends who share their passion for archery.

For more information, be sure to check out the flier in the image and visit our website at wolfgaptn.com/archery, where you'll find all the details you need to get started. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to comment or message us - we'll do our best to get back to you promptly!

Summer campers at Wolf Gap tried a fun activity to experience for themselves how different bird beak shapes offer special adaptations to meet each bird's needs and lifestyle. For example, they tested how well a hummingbird's beak (a pipet) would work at cracking open sunflower seeds, versus how well it worked at sucking up nectar! These little scientists took the assignment very seriously and had a great time in the process.

We are so grateful to sponsors like Dr. Tesa Family Dentistry who make special programs like this possible for our campers by supporting our camp scholarship program. Join us in thanking Dr. Tesa and all our camp sponsors this year!

We love using our summer camp time to explore what Mother Nature delivers with the season. One of our campers noticed an egg in the parking lot at and mentioned it to us at morning drop-off time. We all had to take a walk out to investigate - where we found a kildeer nest! Kildeer often make their "nests" in gravel, where they make just a small indentation in the earth to hold their eggs. This nest only had one egg by the time we found it in our parking area and marked it with cones to keep drivers away from it. We all got to observe the distinctive way that kildeer parents try to distract predators (like us, as far as they were concerned). We had such fun learning from this special surprise that day!

Thank you to Brindley Construction, LLC for their Gold sponsorship of camp, making special moments like this possible for local children attending Wolf Gap's camps. Sponsors like Brindley support our camp scholarship program, where every camper who needs financial aid receives support to help make camp possible for their family. We are grateful for partners like Brindley Construction!

Summer Camp season may be over at Wolf Gap, but we're reliving the memories of fun and learning! A visit to the creek is always a big part of Wolf Gap's classic camp. We start by testing water quality using EarthEcho International's testing kit and protocols, then campers see what critters they can find and catch in the creek. We carefully take those creatures inside - usually macroinvertebrates like mayfly nymphs, crawfish, water pennies, diving beetles, and water striders - and study them more closely. Creek day is always a hit at camp for all involved!

We are so grateful to our summer camp sponsors for making special memories like this possible. The Glover's Designs serves our mission not only as a Gold camp sponsor, but also by donating snacks for our summer campers - and we are so glad for their support!

Memorial Day encourages all of us to reflect on our history, and the debt we owe to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of the United States. But do you know about the origins of this holiday?

We know you're curious. A Civil War military history researcher explains where Memorial Day celebrations came from. Have you checked out our Wolf Gap library? We've curated a great set of books for readers of all ages to enjoy during your visit to Wolf Gap!

Check out these three new titles on the top shelf, just added this week! We Are Mighty by Sharon McMahon profiles twelve ordinary Americans who "did the next needed thing" to help their community and their country. Bugs Don't Hug & What's in Your Pocket are both by author Heather Montgomery of Ardmore! You AND your kiddos will love learning something new and smiling at the great illustrations in these books.

We would love to develop this library corner into a cozy reading area with a rug and kid-friendly seating. Reach out to us if you'd like to help make it happen with a donation or in-kind support!
