As Pauline Kleingeld and Robert Louden complete their 10-year terms, we thank them immensely for their dedication, guidance, and hard work in shaping the organization and judging our prizes.
Our recent call for nominations has yielded an exceptional slate of seven candidates:

* Martin Sticker
* Daniel Sutherland
* Helga Varden

Each NAKS member has up to two anonymous votes, with at most one vote per candidate.

Last week to send your abstracts!

The Midwest Study Group of the North American Kant Society (NAKS) invites submissions for detailed abstracts (1,000-1,200 words) for its 2026 annual meeting, to take place December 11–12, 2026, at the University of Chicago hosted by Professor Maya Krishnan and Professor Thomas Pendlebury. Keynote speaker TBA.

Submissions (in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format) should be prepared for anonymous review and include a word count. Please supply author name, affiliation, and contact information in a separate file. Graduate students should note their status in the contact information.

Please send all abstracts electronically to Bennett McNulty ([email protected]). The submission deadline is September 25th, and notifications will be sent out in mid-October.

The selection committee welcomes contributions on all topics of Kantian scholarship (both contemporary and historically-oriented), including discussions of Kant’s immediate predecessors and successors. We especially encourage submissions from individuals of groups underrepresented in philosophy and Kant scholarship in particular.

The best graduate student paper will receive a $300 stipend and be eligible for the Markus Herz Prize awarded by NAKS. Papers already presented at other NAKS study groups or meetings are not eligible for submission. Presenters must be members of NAKS in good standing (though this is not required in order to submit a paper)

If you are a senior scholar with an article published in either 2024 or 2025, or a junior scholar with an article published in 2025, we highly encourage you to submit your work. Do not miss this opportunity to share your research.

The Eastern Study Group of NAKS invites submissions for detailed abstracts for its 2026 annual meeting. The conference will take place on November 20 and 21, 2026, at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, and will be hosted by Nick Stang. We are delighted to announce that our keynote speakers for this year will be Arthur Ripstein of the University of Toronto and Anja Jauernig of New York University.

The selection committee welcomes contributions on all topics in Kant scholarship and the Kantian philosophical tradition, encompassing both systematic and historically oriented approaches. This includes discussions of Kant's immediate predecessors and successors. Please be advised that papers already presented at other NAKS study groups or meetings are not eligible for submission.

Submissions should consist of detailed abstracts between 1,000 and 1,200 words in length. Documents must be in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format and prepared for anonymous review, including a word count on the document. Please supply the author's name, academic affiliation, and contact information in a separate file. Graduate students should explicitly note their status within their contact information.

Please send all abstracts electronically to [email protected] by the submission deadline of September 1, 2026. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out around September 15, 2026.

The best graduate student paper will receive a $300 stipend and will be eligible for the Markus Herz Prize awarded by NAKS. Finally, while active membership is not required in order to submit a paper for review, all accepted presenters must be members of NAKS in good standing.
