Meet the newest hen at our rescue. 🐔❤️‍🩹 A kind person found her roosting on his motorcycle with a zip tie pushed through her nostrils and secured around her upper beak. He immediately clipped and removed it, then drove around 60 miles to bring her safely to us. His compassion may have completely changed her life.

Unfortunately, her upper beak is deformed where the zip tie had been. The tie was only around the top beak, so her lower beak remained free and she was thankfully still able to eat and drink. We are still struggling to understand why anyone would have done something so cruel to her. 💔 For everyone who has kindly asked, she is doing great and is now safe and cared for. I originally posted this earlier but had to delete it after realizing the rescuer’s license plate was visible in the photo and Facebook would not let me remove it.

He is in bad shape but is showing great will to live. We got him in a cozy spot for healing (this is his transport cage only)

This is Oliver. It’s always nice to post a story with a good ending. We assume Oliver was hit by a car, had a broken jaw and lots of blood clots in his mouth. Thank you to his finder/rescuer Jessica Sterlacci and our friend Tracey for helping Oliver to make a full recovery and will be ready for release around March depending on the weather .
The first pictures of Oliver are when he came into rehab, and the last pictures are of him now. He enjoys, hiding under his blanket and giving his rehabbers the joy of him spilling his food all over! He has developed the spicy attitude needed to go back to the wild! 😜
