The Friends of Oasis organization recently honored VFW 3280 with a special plaque of appreciation in recognition of their long-standing support spanning over 25 years, with Charlie Kizer, Aileen Eastwood, and Valerie Russ in attendance to express our gratitude.

New Mexico celebrates Free Fishing Weekend! This coming weekend in New Mexico on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, as the state observes National Boating and Fishing Week!!

Anyone can fish for FREE in public fishing waters throughout the state on both days, but everyone must observe bag limits and all other rules and regulations. For more information, please visit the New Mexico Department of Wildlife's website and view our calendar for fishing events around the state!

This is a wonderful opportunity for New Mexicans to learn how to fish and get outdoors. We're encouraging everyone to attend a nearby event or visit their local lake to enjoy the excitement of fishing in our state's great outdoors.

Special summer catfish waters are back! From May 18 through September, many small lakes and ponds across New Mexico are being stocked with 17-inch channel catfish. It’s the perfect time to get out, enjoy the sunshine, and reel in some big catfish!

Our hatchery teams are working hard to make these opportunities possible, and special reduced bag limits help keep the fishing great all season long. Want to know which waters are being stocked each week? Check out our weekly stocking reports or explore the NM Fishing RIB online or at any NMDGF office.

And don’t forget to make sure your fishing license is up to date before heading out!
