Mission Statement: CCHS is organized to ensure the protection, sheltering and welfare of all animals in and around Columbia County through a cooperative effort with our citizens. The Columbia County Humane Society was incorporated in 1925 in response to growing community need to care for unwanted and abandoned animals. Twenty years later, a new shelter was built at Highway 16 West and Industrial

Road. CCHS Mission Statement

CCHS is organized to ensure the protection, sheltering and welfare of all animals in and around Columbia County through a cooperative effort with our citizens. Each year, the Humane Society provides care and shelter to approximately 1300 animals. A number of these animals are strays brought in by local officials, transfers from other shelter or rescues or animals who are surrendered to CCHS by their owners. Over the years, we have saved the lives of countless animals through immediate care and treatment, and ultimately adoption. Because of the Society, otherwise unwanted animals have found happy, loving homes. The new shelter opened in 1998 to accommodate the increasing number of animals needing care and to provide increased services to the community, allowing the Society to continue its humanitarian work well into the 21st century.

Mimi is still available!

Mimi-Beagle-female-spayed-1 1/2 years-16 pounds. Meet Mimi! Mimi is an absolute doll — a bright, affectionate young beagle who wants nothing more than to be close to her people. This sweet girl LOVES attention, and she’ll happily soak up every bit of love, petting, and reassurance you offer. If you’re looking for a beagle who truly wants to bond, Mimi is your girl. She’s also wonderful with other dogs, and having canine friends around helps her feel confident and playful. Like many Ridglan beagles, Mimi is learning what home life is all about. She will need a patient, understanding adopter who can help her with housetraining and leash training as she settles into a routine. She’s eager to learn and even more eager to please — she just needs someone who will guide her. Mimi is a sweetheart with a tender spirit and so much love to give. With kindness and consistency, she’ll blossom into a devoted companion. Apply to adopt at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS

One of two brand new Speed Queen washers is officially installed — and it’s already washing its very first load! 💙🐾 The second one is in our garage, but we have run out of time to get it installed today. Tomorrow, we look forward to getting the second one installed and running! Our hope is that by spending a little more to get these top-of-the-line commercial heavy-duty machines, they will hopefully keep us washing laundry for a long time. Big bonus is they have excellent warranties!

To everyone who donated, shared our posts, or cheered us on… thank you. Your generosity made this possible, and our animals will feel the impact every single day. Clean bedding, fresh blankets, cozy spaces — all of it starts with these machines, and because of your generosity.

Our old washers were truly at the end of their life, and this upgrade means smoother days, happy animals, and a shelter that can keep up with the constant laundry that caring for them requires.

From all of us at CCHS — staff, board members, volunteers, and every animal who will rest a little softer tonight — thank you for making this happen. Your kindness keeps our mission moving forward. 💛🐶🐱

Adonis and Niklaus are the last of their litter — and they’re ready for homes!

These two adorable boys have been nothing but sweet, fun, and full of personality since the moment they arrived. They’re playful, smart, social, and absolutely so lovable.

Both pups enjoy toys, treats, exploring, and soaking up attention from anyone willing to give it. They’re the kind of puppies who make you smile just by being in the room.

Now they’re hoping to find families of their own — families who will love them, guide them, and help them grow into the amazing dogs they’re meant to be.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a puppy to your home, Adonis and Niklaus would love to meet you.
Let’s get these last two brothers the happy beginnings they deserve. Apply to adopt at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS

Chagall is a 2½‑month‑old sweetheart who leads with his heart and his snuggles. Where his brother Picasso is the bold little adventurer, Chagall is the affectionate one — the kitten who melts into your hands and purrs the moment you scoop him up. Chagall can be shy and reserved at first, but he warms up quickly. He’s friendly, and loves being around people and other kittens. Playtime is fun, of course, but Chagall’s true superpower is cuddling. Apply to meet him at www.cchswi.org

June is one cool girl! No apps! She's ready to meet you!

June Carter-Treeing Walker Coonhound mix-female-spayed-3 year-76 pounds. June is the kind of dog who makes you feel loved the moment you meet her. She has a tender, soulful way of looking at you that melts your heart instantly. Her personality is soft, sweet, and deeply affectionate—she’s the definition of a loyal companion. June recently completed heartworm treatment and spent months waiting for the day she could finally search for a home of her own. Now that she’s ready, she’s hoping someone sees the beautiful dog she truly is. She’s excellent with other dogs and has been one of our go‑to temperament testers because she’s calm, friendly, and able to get along with everyone. And when she’s excited? June becomes a little “talker”—often sounding like she’s telling the other dogs exactly what to do. It’s adorable, expressive, and so very her. June loves greeting people with gentle hugs and her sweet little “conversations.” She’s a treasure of a dog, and she’s ready to love someone with her whole heart. Apply to meet her at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS

📢📢‼️‼️UPDATE!!!!!!! We have reached our goal! Between our Facebook donations, in-person donations, and our website donation tab, we have hit our goal! Thank you to all who donated and shared our post, we appreciate it!

Hi Supporters! We Need Your Help to Keep Our Animals Clean, Comfortable, and Healthy.

At the Columbia County Humane Society, our washers run nonstop. Every day we clean mountains of bedding, towels, blankets, and laundry for the animals in our care. These machines are the quiet heroes behind every fresh kennel, every warm blanket, and every animal who gets to rest in a clean, soft space.

Unfortunately, our current washers are nearing the end of their mechanical life. After a year of use, multiple repairs, they simply can’t keep up with the demand and are in constant need of repair.

To continue providing the level of care our animals deserve, we urgently need to replace them with two new Speed Queen commercial washers.

Total amount needed: $2,728. Grand Appliance in Sun Prairie is generously giving us a discount on these machines also. Thank you Grand!

These machines will ensure we can keep up with the endless laundry that keeps our shelter running and the animals comfortable. A reliable washer isn’t a luxury for us — it’s essential to the daily health and comfort of every dog and cat who comes through our doors.

If you’re able to contribute toward this need, you’ll be directly supporting cleaner spaces, healthier animals, and smoother shelter operations.

3 easy ways to donate!
1-) Click the donate tab on this post.
2-) Stop into CCHS to make a donation.
3-) Head to our website-please just leave a note to seller it's for the washing machines fundraiser!

We greatly appreciate all your help! Any money raised above what is needed will remain in the General Fund to help the animals. Thank you all for your generosity and help. We appreciate it!
Please share to bring awareness to our need. Thank you!

Available!

Bente-Mountain Cur-female-4 1/2 months-33 pounds. Bente is a truly lovely girl who came to us from a farm in search of a home of her own. Her striking brindle coat catches your eye right away, but it’s her gentle, affectionate personality that makes you fall in love. Bente is as sweet as they come and loves being close to people. Growing up on the farm, she lived around horses, other dogs, cats, and children, making her a great fit for a variety of homes. She’s social, steady, and has that soft, easygoing nature that makes her a joy to be around. Because Bente is a Mountain Cur, which is not a widely known breed, we encourage interested adopters to research the Mountain Cur breed to understand their needs. Bente is ready to bring her sweetness into a family who will love her just as much as she’ll love them. Apply to meet her at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS
