Portage Troop 7070 Scouts BSA Scouts BSA Troop 7070 is located in Portage Wisconsin for girls between the ages of 11 and 17 who are interested in the outdoors, leadership, and fun!

Troop 7070 was chartered in 2019, as the first BSA Girls Troop in the Wisconsin River District. To date, three girls have earned their Eagle Rank with Troop 7070. The Troop is led by the girls who elect their peers into leadership positions. While the girls drive the program, the Troop has several trained adult leaders to provide guidance. The Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters act as advisers

to the girls, and the Troop Committee of parents and volunteer adults manage the high-end functions of the Troop.

The new glass building will host several historic train cars and add more room for the museum to focus on its goal of educating children and the public about railroad history and its place in America.

Don't forget to join the MacKenzie educators tomorrow evening (January 13th) from 5:30pm-7:00pm for the guided night hike under the glow of the first full moon of the year called the "Wolf Moon!" Hike through prairies, practice your observation skills, and warm up by the campfire! All are welcome and make sure to dress for the weather. Trails maybe be slippery if snow covered.

Troop 7070 and Troop 66 joined together for a hike at Wisconsin’s first State Natural Area, Parfrey’s Glen. https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/statenaturalareas/ParfreysGlen

The trail starts out easy and inviting with the first stretch being paved. It’s not far before it turns to gravel, with some serious wash-outs from this summer’s torrential rain events. The trail continues going slightly uphill, but the ease of walking doesn’t. First the graded gravel disappears, then the stream crossings begin as does the rocks and boulders in what loosely resembles a trail. The last hurdle to overcome to get to the waterfall is a boulder wall within the gorge. The Scouts had to skillfully navigate their way over the rocks to make it to the upper reaches of Parfrey’s Glen.

Once climbing over the boulders one more time, it was all down hill from there back to the parking lot where grilled peanut butter sandwiches were made on a hiking stove.

It was an adventure at Twin Lakes over the weekend with Troop 7070. The Scouts did great working as a team to learn camping and canoeing skills! The weather cut short campfire time, but we made the best of it working on rank/merit badge requirements and playing cards. Until next time Twin Lakes.
