The Women's Civic League of Portage, Inc. The Civic League began with the encouragement of local author, Zona Gale. Learn more at: http://wome Has it changed through the years? Of course!

Since 1931, women in and around Portage, Wisconsin, have met regulary to combine their common interests to support community causes, and simultaneously worked to preserve a part of our area history - the Zona Gale home on the Wisconsin River. Born in an age when it was unusual for women to be progressive and nurtured through the Depression years, into the 50's, the Women's Civic League today remai

ns an active, viable women's civic organization in the 21st Century! To remain solid, any group needs to grow with the times and meet new challenges. The Women's Civic League of Portage continues the role of mini-historical society maintaining the Zona Gale Home, as well as funding two annual scholarships for graduating high school seniors, plus contributing to various local not-for-profit entities involved in either civic improvement or civic welfare. See our website, http://WomensCivicLeagueofPortage.com; meet our original benefactor, the author Zona Gale; and view the remarkable Wisconsin River shoreline restoration recently completed at the Civic League Club House. We meet once a month for lunch, friendship, and an interesting program.
