For the people asking about a time capsule— there was one buried in front of city hall, in a small cemetery vault when city hall was built.
It was marked with a cemetery marker and when it was dug up, most of the contents were ruined by water.
The stone is on the grounds of Countryside Park, near the museum.

A little over 50 years ago, the Class of 1976 hid a time capsule in what is now Willowcreek Middle School. (It was Portage High School in 1976.) Now that we’re building a new middle school, it’s time to dig up the time capsule.

Here’s where we need your help.

We’re looking for information on the location of the time capsule. If you know where it’s located, email us at [email protected].

When we do find it, we’ll share pictures of what we find inside!

The Portage Township community is invited to join us for the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Aylesworth Middle School!

Date: October 20
Time: 4:30 p.m.
Location: The site of the new Aylesworth Middle School (located next to Willowcreek Middle School on Central Avenue)

After the ceremony, we will show renderings of the new school and highlight its features.

We hope to see you there as we start this exciting project!
