Indiana parents are being warned about a dangerous online network accused of targeting children through popular gaming, messaging and social media platforms, including Roblox, Discord and Telegram.
The Fort Wayne Police Department has confirmed an active local investigation involving a network known as 764, an online extremist group that authorities say uses manipulation, threats, blackmail and exploitation to target vulnerable minors.
According to investigators, members of these networks may initially approach children through seemingly harmless online conversations before attempting to gain their trust, obtain personal information or compromising material, and eventually use threats to pressure them into increasingly dangerous situations.
These tactics can include sexual exploitation, psychological abuse, blackmail and coercion into self-harm.
Fort Wayne police have acknowledged investigating activity connected to the network, bringing a disturbing national online safety concern directly into Indiana communities.
While authorities have not announced arrests in the local investigation, the warning raises serious questions about how easily dangerous individuals can reach children through apps and games that millions of families use every day.
Parents are encouraged to talk with their children about online safety, review privacy settings, monitor unfamiliar contacts and remind children that they should never feel afraid to report threats or uncomfortable interactions.
With children spending more time online than ever, are parents doing enough to monitor who their kids are communicating with, or should platforms like Roblox and Discord be held more accountable for protecting minors?
