Small Voices. Big Ideas. Future Leaders!

K-Kids kicked off their very first meeting in our Y's community room with Club of Portage - Indiana, NEO Education, and Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce.

From discovering what leadership means and identifying community challenges to learning about officer responsibilities and casting their votes, these young changemakers are already putting leadership into action!

A BIG congratulations to our this year's K-Kids President, Dakota, and our newly elected Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer!

We can't wait to see the difference they'll make together.

And every Thanksgiving since, people have gathered at the Portage Township YMCA to start their morning together.

Some come to race.

Some come to walk.

Some bring the kids.

Some bring their entire family.

Some have been here for years.

Some will be here for the very first time.

You can start with your little corner of it. ❤️

Coach a kid who needs someone cheering from the sidelines.

Welcome someone who's nervous about walking into the Y for the first time.

Share something you're really good at.

Lend a hand at a community event.

Give a few hours to a place that's working every day to make Portage stronger.

Because volunteering isn't only about what you GIVE.

It's the people you meet. The kid who remembers you. The friendships you make. The moment you drive home thinking, “I'm really glad I did that.”

You don't need to move like you did at 25.

You just want to keep doing the things that make life YOURS.

Walking through the store. Getting up from your favorite chair. Keeping your balance. Playing with the grandkids. Going places with friends. Staying independent.

That's what movement can be about.

EnhanceFitness meets you where you are—not where anyone thinks you “should” be.

Exercises can be done standing or seated, everyone moves at their own comfortable pace, and classes focus on building strength, flexibility, movement and balance.

And somewhere along the way, you may find something else: a group of people who notice when you walk through the door and cheer you on when you make progress.

You don't have to keep up.

You just have to show up.
