🎃 Happy Halloween from your favorite Ghouls at PWAAC 👻

Our Halloween party was a monster success! A ghost, lumberjack, fall garden, order of nuns, scarecrow, deviled egg, candy corn, and EXTRAORDINARY microwave popcorn, filled our center. Wait. What? It's true. Amongst all the fantastic costumes in the parade this year, the real show-stopper was Eve's Microwave Popcorn stand, assisted by Chef Louie. 🍿👨‍🍳 Slide through our party photos to see for yourself.

A SPOOKTACULAR thank you to our esteemed VIP costume contest judges, who made impossible decisions under extreme pressure: 🫶🏆

Rachel Khalili & Seth Breland from Assemblyman Daniel Norber's office, Sergeant Sue Petrizzo & Sergeant Peter Griffith PWPDny, Town Clerk Ragini Srivastava, Toni Kessel from Delia DeRiggi-Whitton - Nassau County Legislator's office and Valerie Mallon from Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation.

And a big, boo-tiful thank you to our volunteers: Rachel, Marissa, Pat, Warren & Maura! You made the magic happen, and didn’t even need a broomstick. 🧹 Shoutout to Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace for the Monsterrific Menu. 😋

A huge thank you to the Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation for generously sponsoring our party, to Eve for keeping the popcorn popping, and to everyone who came and made it a "corny day" to remember. See you all at Friendsgiving next month.

Exciting NEWS for our center and the community!🎉

The Port Washington Adult Activities Center has been awarded a $65,000.00 DASNY capital grant to improve our kitchen, bathrooms and classroom spaces. This investment will make our center safer, more functional, and more welcoming, supporting the programs, activities and connections that mean so much to our seniors. 😍

We are grateful to Assemblyman Daniel Norber and his chief of staff, Seth Breland for their support and advocacy, to the DASNY team for helping move this funding forward, and to the Town of North Hempstead - Government for accepting the funding and committing to implementing these improvements. (Thank you Kelly Gillen and team for already working to improve our spaces.) Thank you so much. 🫶

This milestone reflects a shared commitment to ensuring older adults in have a safe and welcoming spaces to connect, participate, thrive and have FUN! We look forward to sharing updates as the projects move ahead.

Every program, every smile, every door is open thanks to supporters like you. To help support the programs and connections that bring our center to life, please visit our website: https://pwaac.org/pages/donate

Look Out Picasso! 🎨

Earlier this week, the walls of the Port Washington Public Library came alive with color, creativity, and heart as our PWAAC's artists took center stage. Every piece told a story, and visitors lingered, smiled, and discovered just how much talent lives right here in our community. Some even struck a pose alongside the art. 📸

We were also treated to a wonderful reception hosted by our generous PWAAC board of directors. Thank you for celebrating our artists in such a special way. 🫶🏻

A huge thank you to the Port Washington Public Library for featuring our artists and giving their work such a beautiful stage. And thank you to everyone who stopped by, and most of all to our incredible artists. You inspire us every day! 👏

🏐😊 Sweetest Cheering Squad Around! 😊🏐

Meet two of our favorite chair volleyball cheerleaders. 📣🏐 Laurice and Leonor bring the big smiles, the good vibes, and the loudest courtside cheers. Thank you for being our biggest fans and for lighting up the center. 💛🫶

🥨🚍 Oktoberfest, No Passport Required! 🥨🇩🇪

A lively bunch of our members had a blast on our PWAAC day trip to the Plattduetsche Park Oktoberfest in Franklin Square last Friday. Live oom-pah music, a buffet lunch, and plenty of dancing, all just a bus ride away. 🎶

Vielen Dank to Debbie for being our fabulous chaperone, and danke schön to everyone who joined us. Stay tuned for our next adventure....

Good food brings people together, and last Thursday 66 of us proved it. 😍 Huge thanks to Debbie for a meatloaf so delicious it deserved its own standing ovation. Take a bow! ❤️🍴

💛 Heartfelt thanks to our PGT Goldies 💛

Behind every great show is a crew of amazing people working behind the scenes, and our Port’s Got Talent Goldies have been doing just that. Their time, energy, and big hearts are making our fundraiser shine, and the fun isn’t over yet. We’re collecting sponsorship donations all the way up to our big show on November 14 at 7:30 pm, at the Jeanne Rimsky- Landmark on Main Street Theater.

Want to help us reach our goal? Every donation, big or small, makes a difference and goes directly back into our senior center, the Port Washington Adult Activities Center. Interested in becoming a sponsor? Check out the flyer in this post or our website (link in our bio) to learn more about our sponsorship opportunities, or message us directly! 🎭✨
