Today is National Rescue Dog Day, and first and foremost, we want to thank the real heroes behind everything we do: our fosters, adopters, supporters, volunteers, and community. Without all of you and your tireless dedication, none of this would be possible. Every life saved is a team effort, and today we celebrate YOU just as much as the dogs and lives saved.
Today, we want to share an update on our girl Tyra.
When Tyra was found in Detroit, we believed we were getting an 8 to 16 week old puppy. In reality, she was an almost 8 month old puppy who was so incredibly emaciated , neglected and malnourished that she weighed under 20 pounds. She was too weak to even stand on her own.
On intake we quickly realized this was much more urgent and we called our veterinary staff in immiedately .
Thanks to our tireless team at Bottle Babies Rescue and St Roch Rescue Veterinary Clinic, Tyra received the urgent medical care she needed. She was hospitalized for weeks while our team helped her heal.
And now, just last weekend, Tyra found her forever home.
Today only 5 weeks after she was found so weak she could barely stand, she now weighs over 40 pounds. She is happy, playful, sweet, and finally safe. Most importantly, she will never have to wonder where her next meal is coming from again.
Thank you for believing in rescue dogs.
Thank you for supporting our mission.
And thank you for helping make stories like Tyra’s possible. ❤️
