Dear Friends,

We may not have a place to call a home of our own yet, but tonight we're closer than we've ever been.

We hope to be the future residents of Independent Living Alliance's inclusive housing community. We're sons and daughters. Brothers and sisters. Neighbors. Friends. We have hopes, dreams, talents, and goals, just like anyone else.

Some of us dream of decorating our first apartment. Some of us look forward to having friends right next door. Some of us want the chance to be more independent while still being connected to a community that understands us. Some of our families have spent years wondering what our future will look like when they can no longer be there every day.

This project is helping answer those questions.

It is creating more than housing. It is creating security. Friendship. Independence. Opportunity. It's creating a place where we can truly belong.

When we talk about healthy aging, we have to talk about a group of heroes whose health is often pushed to the back burner: our aging parent-caregivers.

For decades, these incredible parents have dedicated their lives to nurturing, protecting, and advocating for their adult children. They have carried the heavy, beautiful responsibility of caregiving with fierce love. But as they age, the physical, financial, and emotional realities of caregiving compound. For Linda, one of the greatest gifts has been watching John grow up in Canton.
