Schopp-Ewing-Nispel American Legion Post #243 and The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #243 of Plymouth Nebraska would like to thank all those who came to attend the homecoming service and burial of Private Erwin Schopp who was raised at Plymouth. After 82 years of being listed as a POW/MIA, he was brought home to rest in peace along side his parents. There were well over 300 in attendance including Military personnel, Legion and Auxiliary dignitaries, Legion Riders, different branches of the service members, our senator and wife and so many more…. Private Erwin Schopp’s nieces and nephew all came from a distance and were so appreciative of the patriotism shown their loved one by his hometown, Plymouth. THANK YOU TO ALL, again! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸,

Honoring a Hero: Erwin Schopp Returns Home

After 82 years, WWII POW Erwin Schopp will finally be laid to rest in his hometown of Plymouth, NE. His story has touched the hearts of many.

On Friday, July 18, we will gather to honor his life, his sacrifice, and his long-awaited return. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM at the Plymouth Community Center, followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his mother—one of our cherished Gold Star mothers.

The community is warmly invited to attend this historic and moving tribute. Let us come together to give Erwin the welcome home he has always deserved.
