It’s almost nearly the end of Foster Care Awareness month. If you have ever wondered about fostering or wonder if there’s a way to get involved, we can answer your questions and point you in the right direction. BHSN’s Therapeutic Foster Care program offers free training and guidance to those that join our program, supporting children in care that are some of the most in need. ❤️We continue to shine light on Foster Care Awareness Month!❤️

As of June 30th 2025, 14,455 children in foster care and 9,936 licensed foster homes in New York State.

There are not nearly enough foster homes for youth in need. See what you can do to make positive change. Even if it is just spreading the word! These children just need the right amount of love, structure, consistency and stability to be successful. We need YOU!

While the little ones enjoy Story Time, pull up a chair with our Therapeutic Foster Care team. We’ll be sharing information on how our program supports both foster parents and children through specialized training, 24/7 crisis support, and dedicated family specialists.

❤️May is Foster Care Awareness Month!❤️

Let's take a moment to spread awareness on the hard work our foster parents and staff do for these kids in need and to shine light on every child in care who are finding their way.

In 2025, 12,814 youth were placed in foster care in the state of New York. There are many reasons why children are placed in foster care such as; abuse, neglect, incarceration, lack of resources, drug addiction, etc. Children in the foster care system have experienced a tremendous amount of loss who need the space, time and tools to grieve. It is our foster parents and staff who support them through these difficult times of their life and to get them on the right track.

Thank you to all who make a difference in these children's lives. Let's continue to spread awareness on foster care and on the wonderful work that is done every day to make sure these kids are safe, loved and have a sense of belonging.
